I see quite a bit on elitism here. Or supposed elitism-perhaps we simply misuderstand differences in dynamic prefferences. I have done dynamics that were based on everything from the sensual cuddly sort of thing-to the downright nasty M/s sorts of things. I was able to enjoy the dynamics pretty much equally-because I refused to limit my "range."

To my way of thought-tolerance is not just giving liscence to others to practice thier prefferences. It's about letting go of your own prejudices enough to really understand what they get out of it. When I see a posting-I try to infiltrate my mind into the context it is meant to be in-rather than twist it the other way round. Then get all upset when I cannot manage to make it *fit*. Try it some time-you may be surprised by what you learn-not just about others-but about yourself.

I don't see what you refer to as elitism. I do see alot from others who post in ways that it seems as if their way is the only way ( and notice I said 'who post in ways' ). I am the kind who does not bother to state that my words are only my opinion or only my experience...

I do look at things from many different perspectives and know that not everyone does things the same way; I don't go out of my way though to make my point...unless I am in a really good mood and feel like being a bitch...hmm...wait a sec...that's usually always

I'm making the point that it gets used as a finger to point. "Ooo eltists, one twue way, BADDDD!!!!!"

Seriously, how many people come on here and express opinions that aren;'t thier own? Isn't it sort of a no brainer to figure that out?

But aren't you doing exactly what you criticize in your post?  Say I'm only turned on by rough hard fucks and completely turned off by sensual cuddly romps...do you view me as limiting myself?  Do you veiw me as not being as true as you since you don't "limit" your range?  Or do I just know myself better after 39 years?

Nope. I have done what you do as well.

But it's not all I am capable of. It's not as if my opinion makes a damn bit of difference in what you will do, is it?

I'm laughing because I was about to repond to your pre edit.  Absolutely...your opinion, or anyone else's for that matter, has no effect on any of my decisions at all.  I wish more people were clued into that.  There would be much less drama here if people just kept that in mind.

edited because I can't type at all today without spelling errors

Bingo, that lady gets the prize-it makes NO difference. Then why make a big deal about it?

People make a big deal out of it because they want to be heard; they want to know that others understand where they are coming from and which side of the fence that they sit on.

There is nothing wrong with that. 99% of the time it makes for some wonderful discussions.

For me, if you ask for my opinion you are going to get it.  I dont sugar coat, and I dont make an attempt to do anything but give the poster and anyone else who wishes to read it MY take on things.  I think my way is better for me, if I didnt, then I wouldnt be doing it. I dont think its better for anyone else, but I am not going to give opinions on something I know nothing about, nor am I goig to form new ones to be more forum-friendly.
My opinions are mine, you are welcome to agree, or disagree... argue or not.  They arent likely to change and what you say or I say has only as much impact on someone as tey choose to give it.  However, if you dont really want others input, plcing something on a forum isnt for you.
I dont see it as elitism, you are inviting the criticism and all when you post.  Not all of it is going to be positive. *shrug*

Perhaps you are communicating with the wrong ones then.

In real life, and here on message boards, the majority that I have come into contact with are mature, intelligent, open minded adults who have no issues with understanding and accepting the ways of others.

Granted, you do have a small portion that goes out of their way to preach their own true way; but they are actually few and far between.

They want both, to be heard (read) and to be validated by hearing (reading) that others agree with them.

Isn't that why people flock to the internet in the first place? To preach the supremecy of thier ways and pick fights with those they say are beneath them all from the cozy confines of Momma's basement...

Perhaps some do. Personally, I pick fights for the simple reason that it's fun to do so

I actually enjoy hearing about things I may find truly..odd.......

(does his best Spock voice, "*fascinating*".........) I'm rarely upset by things I read.

Some things that are beynd abusive,or illegal-I would be upset over. But some of the rest that people choose to be offended over? I guess I just don't get it, a love of drama for it's own sake?

there are some things that people feel very, very strongly about; when they read about it, it offends their sense of right and wrong. Again, there is nothing wrong with this; it just shows that they have the maturity to uphold their own morals.

Again, I have come across people like this, and most of them, while they are offended; don't make it an issue with others; they simply state thier opinion and leave it a that.

Unless it's another "fat chick thread", any  *rational* explanation for those?

Notice, I said mature adults. Those kind of threads are not started by a person who has reached maturity.

Though, I have seen a couple started only as a means of making fun and poking jokes at those who do start those kinds of threads. They are always fun to read
