As a Brit I'll stay out of this except to say...... for goodness' sake, choose wisely this time!

Lovely statistics.

You (and the statistics) assume Billary is going to win the nomination.

Sinergy

p.s. why exactly would Al Gore, who can sweep the election, bother announcing his candidacy now and subject himself to the Right's trying to bash him?  Sit back, announce at the last minute, take the election.

p.p.s.  I wont be voting for Billary, so please dont do your usual tactic of attacking me personally.

Sinergy,

I wish to address a couple of your points, but your last point first.

I wont be voting for Billary, so please dont do your usual tactic of attacking me personally.

You constantly confuse the challenging of your facts and conclusions with a "personal attack".

A second aspect of your belief that my "usual tactic" is "personally attacking you" is that you are one of (if not the) pre-eminent practitioner of the snide, sarcastic and condescending (especially condescending) comment and post on this forum.

And I'm not sure you really, actually, understand that you do it, or what the impact that your style has on others.  At times, I'm not certain if you intended to make a question or comment to me or others snide, or whether it was an honest question or comment, but I usually default to seeing it as in your normal sarcastic manner.

I suspect that uncertainty you engender is exactly your intent.  But I'm uncertain.

Another thing that is frustrating in trying to engage you in any kind of conversation (in addition to your condescending and sarcastic attitude) is your insistence of assuming things at a tangent of what was actually said, or proposed.

A hypothetical example would be in a discussion about milk, where someone claims that all cow's milk that comes from the udder is white in color, you might jump in and insist that chocolate milk isn't white, and furthermore that it's the curds that have color and the majority of milk is just water, which is clear of any color.

Neither point which is related to the claim, although certainly about milk, which was the original topic.

It creates confusion, and ill will, especially when you then start using sarcastic retorts to claim that the original poster is obviously an idiot, has a poor grasp of milk, and is trying to change the subject.

It just leaves many - or at least me - shaking my head, and again wondering if you are unintentionally being obstructionist and dense, or if you have an agenda to cause frustration and divisiveness in the forum.

I do think you are an intelligent person, so my conclusion is that it is generally your intent to cause a conversational pile up - although, again, I am uncertain.

Even the few times I've seen you "apologize" for something, it seems to me to have been given in a sarcastic, "give-with-one-hand-take-back-with-the-other" attitude of unrepentant smugness.

So ... if you feel like I personally attack you, I think the first step to changing my way of interacting with you is to take a good hard look at how you yourself treat others.

Feel personally attacked now?  Not my intent, and no sarcastic, snide remarks in the above post, just an honest appraisal of what I see.

Now to the meat of your post:

You (and the statistics) assume Billary is going to win the nomination.

No, just follow the link.  The summary of the survey isn't all that long or complex.  In all three states, Hilliary is the Democratic frontrunner, and Giuliani is the Republican front runner:

Florida Findings:

In a Democratic primary matchup, Clinton gets 36 percent, followed by 15 percent for Gore, 13 percent for Obama and 11 percent for John Edwards.

Ohio Results:

Clinton leads in a Democratic primary matchup with 37 percent, followed by 17 percent for Edwards, 14 percent for Obama and 11 percent for Gore.

Pennsylvania:

In a Democratic primary, Clinton leads with 36 percent, with 14 percent for Gore and Obama and 13 percent for Edwards.

As far as Al Gore, it's always easy to claim to support someone who isn't running.

Matt Taibbi had this to say in the latest Rolling Stone

"Giuliani leads his nearest Republican competitor by twenty points and would only lose to Hillary Clinton by
six measly points if the election were held now. Oh, wait, he would still lose, even to a supposed Marxist witch like Hillary Clinton.  Thats the best-case scenario for the Republican Party at the moment.  First they screwed up, sending thousands of American's to their deaths.  Then they refuse to apologize.  And now they're going to pay."

[sarcasm]

Must feel good to be a Republican these days, riding a wave of success and public support not seen since
Nixon was impeached for bungling while covering up an illegal act committed in an election he could not
possibly lose even if he played by the rules.

[/sarcasm]

...sorry, but with GWB in the white house i'm not sure wise is the best word to describe the US electoral process........i mean, come on, you don't even have one person one vote when you elect your president, the electoral college distorts democracy.......

Good luck getting Rudy to the starting line. The North American branch of the Taliban, which comprises the base of the GOP (35% of Bush's votes in 2004, and disproportionately active in the primary process) are a huge roadblock for him. Giuliani has a healthy lead right now in the "likely GOP primary voters" polls, but a huge chunk of them do not yet know his abortion rights beliefs. They probably also don't know that he's been divorced twice and his second wife had to get a restraining order to keep him from putting up his mistress in the Mayor's mansion.

That said, he may just be able to scare enough of these primitive childlike people with a 24-7 "Islamofacist Terrorism" chant, the way Bush did, to get in. These are very impressionable people who think Sunni insurgents are about to invade their towns and force their kids to learn Arabic.

Or maybe the GOP inner circle will sell enough prominent fundamentalist figures on the "it's either Rudy or Hillary" line, and they would then go to their flock and inform them that "God wants Rudy in". Anything could happen. You and I live in a very cartoonish country.

Sinergy, I am convinced that Gore is thoroughly at home and enjoying himself in what he is doing now. He really doesn't sound eager to jump back into the mudslinging. And he's doing something more significant than any president will be doing for the next few decades: getting the world's #1 per capita emitter of greenhouse gases to start focussing on heading off the worst crisis currently facing humanity (dwarfing terrorism).

Would that be "Nobel Peace Prize winning James Earl Carter III" you're referring to? Yes, sometimes we have chosen wisely. Then we promptly punish that choice for being honest with us.

No, that's Jimmy "Never Met A Dictator I Didn't Like" Carter.  Pretty much a worthless president.  But then again, I tend to think that about most of 'em, so....

True,we picked Al Gore in 2000,but bush managed to swipe the presidency.

Our system works, when crooks and liars are kept at bay. What has happened to America(with bush),is the best example of why we should never let an election be stolen again.

If Al Gore were president, there was a good chance 9/11 would have been averted,we wouldn`t have invaded Iraq, and wouldn`t have our army being broken there. The good economic situation would have continued on,our debts and our debt service, would be shrinking, and the American middle class would be growing and getting stronger.

Of course, the opposite of all that has happened.

On another note FatDomDaddy,I defy you to name any FDNY members, who would vote for Rudy.

The very same, Suzanne.  Mr double digit unemployment AND interest rates, himself.  Then of course, we have his utter failure to respond appropriately in the hostage situation.  I don't know Jimmy Carter, the individual.  President Carter was a flop.

Thompson has anything to offer? to me there's nothing that distinguishes him from any other Republican aside from the faux-outsider guise he dons when it suits him.

Whenever I look at the polls, I ask myself two questions:

What year is it?  2007
When's the election?  2008

Nuff said
