What! NG un-employed?
We'll get him a job.

I think we are headed there, Popeye.

Different parts of the country will be effected to different levels
and for varying lengths of time, depending on their local
industries, commerce, agricuture and real estate.

NeedToUseYou -> RE: Will we have a Reccession? (4/28/2007 3:47:12 PM)

I have mixed feelings on a "recession". It comes with opportunity as well you know.

I would really like a complete housing market crash on a personal benefit level,(obviously I'd like to buy at the bottom, and get cheap interest rates).

But at the same time, people lose jobs in recessions.

Anyway, I don't think we are presently in a recession, I do think we are looking at one in the near future. The system seems to get more reckless all the time in its monetary policy. As long as you have a FED and fractional reserve lending  these things will always happen, they induce growth, then they quell growth, of course pocketing the inflationary money along the way.

Simple cycle, Get people in over there heads, then try to drown them, in the debt you just gave them. Rinse, repeat. LOL.

Vendaval, I think so too.
We simply cannot keep importing manufacturing jobs overseas.
I think George Bush is about to get a new knickname, "Hoover."

ah now listen up people this man understands the money system!  and even when people are not drowning in debt there is shit loads of money to be made with th4se market flucuations.   i have friends and family who sometimes ask me for advice on what i think about certain market movents, and all to often my only response is:  well it shouldnt continue in this direction much longer BUT it all depends on where they "feel like taking it".

What that means of course and i am sure you already realize this is that there is such huge money being poured into and out of the market that it is in fact controlled by these people and they milk it to bring in as many sheep as they can in both directions.

Ever notice how they make it painful in both directions?  That is by design and there are huge profits in it too.  :)

That and did you notice that people bought their houses with money that was worth more eh?  The value of the dollar dropped nearly 30% and is still declining over the last 4 - 5 years.

So people got into debt with money that was worth 30% more than it is now on low interest rates.   The variable mortgages are getting creamed.  So now we have a condition where as soon as the housing peaks out, devalue the dollar and increase interest rates at the same time.

do you guys see what is happening here?  See the money making potential if you are a bank?

in a word it is the "wolves fleecing the flock"

Oh I think we are in one already, big time, the other shoe just hasn't dropped yet.
It will.

Griswold -> RE: Will we have a Reccession? (4/28/2007 9:44:49 PM)

We will always have a recession.

Every 8 - 10 years...just like clockwork.

(Kind of a dumb question actually).

popeye1250 -> RE: Will we have a Reccession? (4/28/2007 9:49:29 PM)

Griswold, didn't a Teacher ever tell you that there's no such thing as a dumb question?

lockedaway -> RE: Will we have a Reccession? (4/28/2007 9:49:55 PM)

We have a recession just about every ten years.  Late 90's, late 80's, the 70's were different (OPEC and NYC defaulting on its short term notes, etc. etc., Carter).  Absent something extraordinary, I don't think we are going to stave off a recession for the next 1-3 years.

Not true.

there was no such thing as recesssion in the first 100 years of this country to the contrary this contry got filthy rich during this period, INCLUDING the lowest class!!!  we have had recession only since the creation of the federal reserve.  you sir do not understand money and need to watch this video:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7757684583209015812&q

not only will we have a recession this country has just about run its course both in gov and currency and is doomed to crash.  Bottom line they are running out of rabbits to pull out of their hat.

Mz Mia, oh yes it has and that shoe is called the housing crunch.
It's bad in the Northeast, parts of Florida and California, the "ususal suspects."
You can almost predict to which month we'll have a reccession just by watching prices in those areas.
I've been doing that since 1988.

seeksfemslave -> RE: Will we have a Reccession? (4/29/2007 1:16:38 AM)

Apologies but here comes a deviation:

RealOne
If the monetary system is the root cause of the boom-bust cycle that seems to occur in "capitalist" economies, what is there to use as token of value to say finance a future project, horrendously expensive, but which may be judged to provide returns at some future date ?

Or even house construction/purchase for that matter ?

You're sort of right here but not really.  The boom/bust cycle didn't really start in earnest until the 1850's.  Before this, the country wasn't sufficiently industrialized to experience recession and there was no method of keeping track of economic growth anyway.  I mean, seriously, all the economy could do was grow.

The federal reserve wasn't fully established until 1913 so its hard to imagine it played a causative role in creating the business cycle.

A US recession will not be as bad for the world economy as it would have been 20 years ago, spending power is more evenly spread and other countries could take up much of the slack.

OK I'm no economist but that was the consensus of a group of City economists I heard on the radio.

Banks for loans arent the problem.

It is the way it is being done with the use a debt fiat system.

Inflation is a totally hidden tax 100% out of the sight of the people in any country that uses it.

In a word there is no oversight by anyone in the world over the international banks.

they create booms and busts, and wars.  huge profits in it.

Its a fact not my opinion.

I hope you are right but I doubt it somehow. Look at the fuss when both Ford and Vauxhall (GM) cut back.
If Jap exports to America reduced you might expect Toyota and Honda to cut back in the UK.
Likewise with China and their plans to invest in the West Midlands.
Same with German manufactured exports to the US. Not sure but probably France and Italy too.

On the financial side the UK is a massive investor in the US so you might expects such investments to fall and reflect thru' into the pensions industry.

So the message is..... keep spending US for all our sakes. lol
