Ungrateful Wife

A wife arriving home from a shopping trip was horrified to find her husband in bed with a lovely young woman. Just as she was about to storm out of the house, her husband stopped her with these words:

"Before you leave, I want you to hear how this all came about. While I was driving along the highway, I saw this young girl here, looking tired and bedraggled,

So I brought her home and made her a meal from the roast beef you had forgotten in the refrigerator. She had only some worn-out sandals on her feet, so I gave her a pair of good shoes you had discarded because they had gone out of style. She was cold, so I gave her the sweater I bought you for your birthday that you never wore because the colors didn't suit you. Her slacks were worn out, so I gave her a pair of yours that were perfectly good but too small for you now.

Then, as the young girl was about to leave the house, she paused and asked, "Is there anything else your wife doesn't use anymore?"

This could also be called..."The Husband that is very good at justifying bad behavior" (just my opinion not anything else)

I really like how this joke was written.  It showed, step by step, that the wife was spending his money, picky, unproductive, gaining weight, and neglectful, all quite subtly while making a good joke out of it.  The author deserves and applause for it.

A husband came home to find his wife sipping brandy on the couch with a strange gentleman.  As he turned to storm out of the house the stranger called after him …   “Wait, please, you really ought to understand how this happened.  I was driving along the road when I saw your wife stopped with the hood up on her car.  While I waited with her for a tow truck she told me how the engine light had been coming on and she heard an odd noise for weeks now.  She said she told you about it and asked you to please check on it for her and while you said you would as soon as you had time, you never were able to get around to doing it.   Last Saturday you got up and went to the garden store to select your new gas BBQ grill for the summer and since there was a sale it was more important for you to be there right away that it was to check on your wife’s car to make sure she had safe and reliable transportation.  Even though she drives several miles on rural roads to get back and forth to work and take your children to school, you decided that on Saturday afternoon you needed to have a few beers with your buddies rather than take her car for a quick drive around the block.  After all, you work hard all week and you deserve some time to relax.  She understood when you called Saturday night and even though you had promised to take her to the new movie she wanted to see, you and the guys had a poker game going.  You need your “man time”.   Sunday morning there was all your email to catch up with, and then the game was on.  But that was OK, she used the time to get all the laundry done and several dinners prepared for the week so when she gets home from work she can make certain you have a hot meal and clean clothes for work.  She helped Bobby and Suzy with their homework, and supervised the baking of cookies for the band fund raiser.  She got out that Hallmark card that she said made her think of you at the store and put some xx’x and oo’s on it and tucked it into your suit coat pocket so you’d find it at work the next day and know she was thinking about you.   She told me she understands how much you work and how on week nights you just are too tired to even talk to her very much.  She had been very excited that tonight you promised to come home early tonight to celebrate your anniversary.    When the tow truck arrived and took her car, I offered to drive her home.  She talked about you the entire time and how lucky she was to have a husband like you.  When we got here she heard the message on the recorder about you working late, again.  She was so sad that the wonderful meal she had planned, the wine and the candles would all go to waste, not to mention the sleep overs for the kids. She asked me if I might enjoy a nice supper as thanks for my helping her out when she was alone and needed someone.   I should thank you, Sir, because I enjoyed all the wonderful things she had planned for you – the wine, the dinner, the dessert, the coffee and brandy she used to bring to you as you sat in front of the fire.  How could any gentleman in his right mind refuse such sweet attention as she had planned for you tonight?    So many times we do not see what we really have.  You do not see the devotion and love waiting right here for you at home, the complete trust in you.  And she still does not see the real truth about you.   I may be a cad, but I have taken only one evening of your life, and some fine brandy.  What if someone other than a gentleman had come along when your wife was alone waiting for help?  What were you willing to risk loosing because you no longer take the time to pay attention to someone who adores you?   With that, the stranger kissed the wife on the cheek, finished his brandy and collected his coat and hat and left.

When he brought home a ring, she was dissapointed at the size of the stone.
When he brought home the deed to their first house, she was dissapointed it was such a small place to live.
When he brought home her own car, she was dissapointed it wasn't a porsche.
When he brought home his personal assistant, she was dissapointed it wasn't his partner at the firm.
