leakylee -> what the hell with this 10 second thing? (4/29/2007 5:03:26 PM)

So get all dolled up, gonna take some new pics. Break out my new camera, it only has a 10 second delay on the timer. What are these people thinking? How are you supposed to throw it up, run in front, and still manage to look cute?

This confuses me. Can anyone explain it?

Obviously by "dolled up" you mean naked?

no i mean taking the curl out of my hair and having clothes on. actually had thought about updating pictures. doesnt that require clothes. it would be alott less scary.

I just got a new camera and have not got that far yet with the timer deal. It is a Canon PowerShot and it has my brain cells scrambling trying to figure out all the features.

I just got the Powershot A560.....Was kind of wondering who else was interested in receiving a "power shot"....Very cool camera...Too much shit to read ...from video to all the other gobbeldygook...I hate buying a toy that takes so much time to learn.

my Master didnt buy me but i dont think He'll mind how long to takes to learn this toy LOL.....

I got the Power Shot S3 IS it is fun but will have tons to learn. I find if I leave the dial on auto I get a great shot, if I try to get tricky and make adjustments I get a crappy shot.

that is what i did on my old camera with half the feature this thing had...which i might add had a 30 second timer!! i do like the added zoom feature on this one, but havent totally gotten the hang of it. i also havent figured out the movie feature either.

I think your camera will allow you more than a 10 second window if you are NEKED...just a thought.

leakylee -> RE: what the hell with this 10 second thing? (4/29/2007 6:32:08 PM)

can i negoiate with it and promise it its copies nowadays or what? is there a trick that isnt in the instruction manual?

ElectraGlide -> RE: what the hell with this 10 second thing? (4/29/2007 8:32:34 PM)

I wonder if you can make it take many shots in a row at 10 seconds apart, that way if you miss the first shot you can be ready for the next one. My camera has a setting where it makes beeping sounds which I have muted. Perhaps you may have a beep warning giving you a 2 second notice for the next picture.

HydroMaster -> RE: what the hell with this 10 second thing? (4/29/2007 8:37:13 PM)

I have a POwershot A630...I can't even use the timer yet.  And I find that my hand isn't steady enough on its own to tak a decent pict.  On a rest it's great though.

Mine has I think a 12 second period.  What i have done in the past when taking a photo of myself is to get into the pose first without worrying about taking the photo.  Sort of like a practice pose.  Then when you get the position you want, go turn on your timer and get back into your position.  It might save some squirming around time, as you already know how you want to position yourself and have already done it.  I am working on some new shots too and am definately not skilled with a camera or with posing.  I came up with the idea ( Im not the first to think of this, Im sure) of putting a mirror next to the camera, so you can see exactly how you are positioned and you can make small adjustments before the timer goes off.  I'm going to give this a shot and see how it turns out.  I usually end up looking like a total doofus, so I'm hoping this helps.

hey marie,

that is a great idea. normally i just keep taking the shots over and over until i like what i get. last time i was something like 2 hours taking 6 pictures. i bet that mirror thing would really work well too. i will have to try that tomorrow. i just aint gonna mess with it no more tonight. it took about 6 trys just to get a semi decent shot of my tat. ack.. i am over it.

thank you
lee
