You'll probably require something clunky if you want the cuffs to actually be used to bind.

(If it's not to be used for bondage, Ralph Lauren has some gorgeous leather and metal bracelets. If you want looks and not functionality, go for jewelry.)

Stockroom's "lockable" cuffs are fine, and they have a nice range on them--I routinely need watches resized, and I can put them on the smallest hole without slipping, while my (male) partner, a pretty big guy, can wear the same pair on the largest without digging in. I don't like SubShop's cuffs. The leather and metal ones from XR are lovely, but I've never used them. I vote for Leather By Danny cuffs. (gripcuffs.com) The detachable GripCuffs allow you to use the cuffs as semi-suspension cuffs (i.e. hands above the head over a door or to the ceiling) as well as as simple wristcuffs.

No...not shameless.
Offered as information on what is real and what to look for.
Mr S also offers a very nice set of suspension restaraints. They are also real.
Unlike most of the other crap being sold. Just trying to point out what is high quality and a link to our gear was the fast and lazy way to do it.

Thanks for adding your obviously experienced suggestions on suspension cuffs MsP.

Per ED's comments/plug - I 'know' him as I 'know' you from the boards but I'm impressed by his craftsmanship as I am by your shared experience.

While a plug, I'd *much* rather buy from someone I 'know', than an unknown storefront. I'm happy he's on these boards and offering suggestions - much like yourself. Personal experience is great and while you offered great general comments, from someone looking to make an immediate purchase, I think it would be better to include a link and list pros & cons.

Ex. www.shameless.com/pieceofcrap - tried it once, broke
www.shamless.com/dangerous - tried it, injured my hangee's wrists
www.shamelsss.com/OK - tried it, worked, didn't love it
www.shameless.com/quality - the best I've tried!

<note: for the clueless, shameless.com doesn't sell gear, it's just a friggin' example!>

Bear in mind, the OP sounds like a novice and is looking to buy soon. The better the info, the better (& sooner) he can make an actual purchase and get started.

Additionally, given the doorframe situation, it sounds like he just wants to vertically restrain his sub, not true suspension. Simple over-the-door cuffs such as these < http://www.sub-shop.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=4310 > might work fine & as a note to the OP, are portable! Can use 'em when traveling.

<note: I haven't used these door thingies, was just listing them as an example.>

I think he may want to attach o-rings to the frame. I've done this too. Not suspension, just vertical restraint. Good for floggin', wax, oral teasing, clothespins, lots o' stuff.

OP, please feel free to chime in here...

Shame or it's lack, probably has another forum section <g>

My comment was not said as a jab, it was actually just meant as tongue in cheek due to the wording that was used... "real cuffs like this" which denotes others are not real? I am in no way saying that his cuffs are an inferior product. I can't believe I actually have to explain something like this. My people are sensitive. My posts where pointing out to the OP that much more needs to be considered outside of cost... what you will be using items for & the comfort of the wearer is far more important than cost. Also that there are many styles to chose from.

My suggestions about items such as this will always be that you need to actually handle the product & try it on before you buy it because pictures can show you everything except what you need to know.
