Hi there...

I thought I would put this out there just to see how many of us there are out there...

What is Bi Leather?

Trampler -> RE: BiSexual Leatherfolks (4/30/2007 10:06:13 AM)

OK, what exactly are you asking? do you want to who is bisexual and part of the leather lifestyle? are you asking what is it? please specify.

is that where one enjoys suede as much as rawhide ?

ahh but then there are the patent leather enthusiast who will say they aren't being considered as valid practitioners

oh damn, then things get messy & we have to get the rubber lovers involved because we need to borrow the hip boots...

MadameButterfly -> RE: BiSexual Leatherfolks (4/30/2007 10:13:45 AM)

I'd do a poll to get the answer:

Bisexual= equally drawn in emotion and desire to both sexes.

BiCurious= never touched the same sex but kinda wonder what it's like. Guaranteed this person will do it at least ONCE.

Bi Chic (pronounced BiSheek)= Much like S and M (Stand and Model) this person will look the part by all appearances and mannerisms to draw attention to themselves.  They all of a sudden will be straight when you put them to the test.

Bi in Scene only=  will do forced homosexuality scene or perform under orders of Dom/me during a session.  They do not initiate the sexual activity on their own.  This identity adds to their "kewl" factor, gets attention and cloaks any homophobia. Probably the most comfy place to be.

Suleiman -> RE: BiSexual Leatherfolks (4/30/2007 2:57:40 PM)

Okay, I'm bi, but now coud you define "leather lifestyle"?

The leather aspects of BDSM have always held the least degree of interest for me, and like the bumper sticker and many sig-lines state, I have a life, not a lifestyle.

MsBearlee -> RE: BiSexual Leatherfolks (4/30/2007 3:03:26 PM)

I'm bi and 'in the lifestyle' but not a leather fetishist...much as I like it.

Do I count?

mp072004 -> RE: BiSexual Leatherfolks (4/30/2007 5:24:34 PM)

I'm bisexual. I identify with SM more than proper "Leather," but if you're using "leather" inclusively as a synonym for BDSM, then I count.

MercTech -> RE: BiSexual Leatherfolks (4/30/2007 5:35:46 PM)

How about "theoretical bisexual"... can't see a thing wrong with it but really hasn't been attracted to any of the same sex yet.

I consider myself to be bi and leather.

denika -> RE: BiSexual Leatherfolks (5/1/2007 1:50:42 PM)

Rob feels more  drawn to the values and lifestyle aspects of leather than he does simply BDSM, his sadism tends to run more towards sex than anything else (and that is not exclusivly leather but it seems to be a bit more understood) He is situationally bi *s* if the situation is right, with the right person *s*    I am bi as well, not sure about leather.... I do like the feel, smell and look of the clothes. I also ride a motorcycle so that is part of it.       Does that count?

Leather or Old Gaurd is something that has been something of catch phrase for many communities these days.  Old Gaurd as I have learned it is based around discipline and tradition; protocol and respect.

Old Guard was formed post WWII, by gay men.  Unlike today being "Out" was not a good thing.  In earlier days, people still had to take risks to be involved in leather/SM, and there wasn't much to be gained apart from the experience itself. I guess in some ways, for some, this has not changed.

It is not just going out and beating someone having great wild sex with someone... to me it is a code of conduct by which we conduct ourselves on a day to day basis.

The reason I started this thread was to find out how many out there consider themselves Leather as well as consider themselves Bi....

I am one of very few Bi Leather Women in my community... so I was wondering if there was anyone else out there...

vield -> RE: BiSexual Leatherfolks (5/2/2007 6:53:37 AM)

The "Leathermen" history by Madame Butterfly is quite accurate, but as many of the responding folks mention, there are lots of differences of opinion about what defines bi-sexuality and about what defines a leather lifestyle.

Personally I feel that whatever label a person chooses to wear on their own forehead is their business, and that any label put upon anyone by others has little meaning.

I know folks who believe any same sex experience at all means one is gay. I know people who feel that EVERYONE deep inside needs whatever it is that they personally like. I know women who say they seek "bi" connections but mean they seek only female partners. I know men who say they seek "bi" meaning they want poly play with F/M couples. So I am glad to see that here LotusSong defines "bi" as being equally attracted to both sexes. That certainly is not me, for I am very much more attracted to females than males, but I have enjoyed experiences with males and am very attracted to a very few other men.

Leather I find interesting in many forms, whether as toys to use, toys to make, or equipment or garments of many sorts of leather. The typical black biker leather stuff can be hot but I can get along with it or without it. Suede goodies can be interesting. The many different kinds of leather falls for floggers I enjoy working with, and leather paddles, whips and bondage gear I enjoy. I do not "need" any of these, but I like most of them. Thus many would say I am "into" leather, and many would say I am not, based upon their personal interpretations.

I do not understand why you said "Leather or Old Guard" as if they are one and the same which is not true. I also do not understand why you had to bring "Old Guard" into this at all. Last time I checked no one here is actually a gay male that interacted in this circle of people at that time. As such, any codes of conduct that are used today are not "Old Guard" no matter how much someone claims or wants them to be. I repeat, There is no "Old Guard" today and no amount of glamorizing or clinging will make it so.

Now let's move on to Leather. I am bi but if Leather is indeed "a code of conduct by which we conduct ourselves on a day to day basis." I have no clue what that code of conduct is. Is there a manual that spells it out? Who created this code of conduct? Does this code of conduct dictate daily living outside of the public scene or is it more about interacting within the public scene with conduct like... if you see a couple that you would like to talk to then talk to the dominant first and not the submissive, etc? Do you have to follow this code of conduct to be considered "Leather" or is the usage of leather toys, restraints, etc. entrance into the world of Leather?

I look forward to your response.

Well damn! I am not bisexual. Can I get a new label then? Maybe Occasional Bi? I have sucked cock, liked it, but still prefer women.

I am Pagan, Domme, bisexual and polyamorous.
Try explaining all of that to a totally naive person!  [8D]
