I'd talk to the guy named Lordstinkycock, just to compliment him on his tungsten balls.

  I wonder what kind of response I would get if I change my name to Mistress Bobbet

wandersalone -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 2:32:20 AM)

I admit that I roll my eyes when I receive emails from people with nic's like masterdomlyone4u, uwillbmine or ihaveabigcock .... however I do give people the benefit of the doubt and read their emails just in case they were having a brain drain on the day they chose an id! [:D]

Sinimint -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 2:55:59 AM)

Yep, wandersalone - I agree.  Names like that annoy me too, or anything with Master "so and so", or Sir "blah blah" or Iwillownyou etc etc etc.  Makes me laugh as well as annoys me and automatically deleted.

I was just wondering...

How put off are slaves/subs by the screennames of those who try to contact you?

Would an overly agressing one, or, perhaps one to wimpy-sounding cause you to think twice, or three times, even, about replying to an initial attempt at social intercourse?

The question is cached within the context that you are otherwise open to being contacted.  Or, at a minimum, haven't ruled out a particular gender/age-group/category of whomever is trying to initiate contact, of course.

I LOVE the unique ones. My particular favorite of all time in the creative category was SirLawrenceofherLabia. I love a literary mind!! Another runner up for me was SirLickaLot. Every time I'd see that one, I'd think "well, with him around, it must have been a ball in Camelot!!"

I will walk away from, or at the very least, get a good laugh out of ones like TenInchCock, first because we can't even get past his name without him lieing, and second, because... well.. even if it were true...what the hell would I do with THAT?!

And I am absolutely turned off (repulsed) by the screen names that put women down, put themselves down and refer to things that are just plain frightening. I am not walking, I'm running, changing my address, phone number and name (lol) when coming into contact with people who have names like "SlasherDom" and the like.

gypsygrl -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 3:37:35 AM)

Screen names really stick in my head (more so than regular names) and I always associate the person with their screen name even if I meet them face to face.  Since each of us chooses our own name I assume that they capture something important about the person behind the name.  If someone indicates their bd/sm  orientation (Master, Dom, Top, sub, slave, bottom) through their screen name I take it literally, and conduct myself accordingly.  If someone indicates their interests (Dom_for_toe_sucking_cum_slut) in their screen name, I take that as a literal description of what they're looking for.  If someone's screen name is tacky (by my standards) or explicit its important information and I generally avoid those.  I can be put off by screen names and do avoid 'strict,' 'stern,' 'nasty,' 'mean as a snake' and the like in favor of 'jovial,' 'cheerful,' 'generally in a good mood' sorts of things (Very few people have the latter; lots have the former.  Why?).  Creativity goes along way in my book.

littleone35 -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 8:03:19 AM)

I used to try to have an open mind.  I mean they might have been furstrated by having 4 or 5 names picked already so they just picked one they are sure would go through.  I would read their e mail to see if i want to talk with them further.  Some people i think just want an eye catching name i would guess.

KatyLied -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 8:15:59 AM)

I am turned off by anyone with "Sir" or "Master" in his screen name, and if they actually put them togeter, argh (for example:  SirMasterIdiot).  I don't "sir" or "master" strangers and I don't agree with that protocol, so those guys get an automatic dismissal from me.

MercTech -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 11:50:14 AM)

Screen names can say a lot or say nothing.  My screen name is just a nickname that has been around for a long time.... CB Handle, Name on IRC, and vanity liscense plate at one time.  I find some of the screen names a bit "out there" and it raises the skepticism bar.

BTW, my screen name has nothing to do with Mercury or Mercedes.  No one has asked on CM but I get that all the time when I play on IRC.

Viridana -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 1:01:40 PM)

fast reply

I stay away from nicks that start with sir or master or lord. I find it hilarious when someone with a nick like shitinurmouth or lickmyasshole sends me a message. I'm interested in the logic behind the names they choose, do they actually think anyone finds it attractive? [:D]

GeekyGirl -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 2:19:42 PM)

I get put off by overly sexual screennames and also by ones that seem to lack any form of personality. "NYguy" is boring. "dom4u" boring. etc.

Rose4Mistress -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 2:36:37 PM)

I've gotten a few accusations over my screenname being either a) boring or b) too sexual.
When I first joined collarme, I joined with a different name, my real first and middle name.  However, even though my profile said lesbian, and I stated several times that I was not interested in guys, all I got were emails from men.
So, when I decided to make a different profile, I chose my nickname (Rose), and added 4Mistress so that guys will have to see my name to click on it.  It really has cut down on the number of emails from men, let me tell ya!

roadscholar -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 2:57:57 PM)

I'll join the consensus - I'm instantly put-off by overtly sexual screen names on all of the websites that I read.  It doesn't matter if I'm discussing aquaria or bondage, an overtly sexual screen name just screams "I'm desperate for sex and will delete this profile tomorrow!".

LadySeraphina -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 3:07:49 PM)

I find it interesting how many replies seem concerned about 'sir', 'master', or 'lord' in the name. In my case, I am 'Lady Seraphina' or 'Lady S' in the scene as well. It doesn't mean I require anyone to call me 'my Lady' unless they serve me, it's just who I am. *shrug*

On the other hand, 'lilsluttybigirl' usually tells me HE's about 16 and really wants to cyber. lol

Edited to note - by 'in the scene' I do mean our local community, as well as in business. I just wanted to clarify I didn't mean only in play.

Najakcharmer -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 3:09:41 PM)

So the ideal screen name would be MasterLordDomlyDong10Inches?  [:D]

Einzelganger -> RE: Screennames... (5/1/2007 6:18:51 PM)

Generally, the only mail I don't even read would be the mail from the sort of names listed by TheDiva and SoftKajira.  If it's a male dom interested in casual conversation, then I really don't want to know about the size of his dick.  Seriously.  And if it's a domme sending me a message, the last thing I want to see is something like LauraDD.  Again, if it's out of friendly conversation, I really don't care what she looks like, or how well endowed she is.  If it's out of a deeper interest, well...I tend to appreciate women who realize that their body is not the only wonderful thing they've got going for them (mind, personality, talent, etc.).

The other thing that makes me think of someone as being sort of silly are the 'dangerous' names.  MissDangerous, LadyDeath, MzAzzKikr, etc.  I have a difficult time taking someone seriously when they brag to everyone that they think they're dangerous.  Just my $0.02...

I actually find most of the names on the OTHER side to be quite amusing; its easy to see where their hands were when they found this site [:)]
