Dtesmoac -> US EU Single Market............? (4/30/2007 6:22:19 PM)

A US EU single market, I had to check whether it was the last or first day of April.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6607757.stm

The title was not quite how I read the content, but then I got thinking about what a gradual, prolonged closing of the legal gap between the EU and the USA would result in......perhaps some design standards could be agreed.

I could see a few areas of integration, mostly to do with money, but when I got onto the detail of regulation, such as standards, safety, environment, food safety, etc, etc., etc, integrated regulation....... I just don't see it the whole basis for large parst of the law are so different.

What are others thoughts.

Makes me want to look at the trade numbers with Asia and if the US thinks that by reducing tariffs with the EU they will be able to have more exports.  i am sorry but i don't see the US doing anything other than for their gain.
