I watch alot of stuff on Discovery and History, but not Deadliest Catch. I guess that sort of fishing doesn't appeal to me. What is it about the show that you all love so much?

I like it because it's real-reality.  Man against severe elements.  Huge risks but huge payoffs; a deck hand can make $250,000 in six months, but they might fall overboard and they'll be dead in 15 minutes--that has happened on the show.  A guy fell overboard and they never found him.  These aren't pretty-boys or hot bods who want to be rock stars--they're just working joes making an honest living.

Every archetype represented on that show is someone I know, someone I've worked with, worked for, or wanted off my jobsite.  It's the reality I know, of busting your ass for as long as takes to get the job done, regardless of discomfort or fatigue.

It is a great show, it presents life, not something made up.  On a personal note, it does make me stop and think what these guys do to put food on my table..

Yes, I like it too.
After so many years in the USCG I'm gratefull (VERY!) that I don't have to do that kind of work anymore.
And you wouldn't survive for 15 minutes in that water. More like 6 or 7.
Making a living on the Ocean is always dangerous work.
Lots of injuries.

So something fishy is going on here.  I thought "deadliest catch" meant a bad one-night stand!?

I'm a big fan of the show also.....some nasty shit those boys go thru. The show sort of reminds me of my logging days up in AK. Had a good friend killed up there....in fact, it was him that talked me into cutting timber up there. Tuff land..tuff men!
