By SANDY COHEN, AP Entertainment Writer 7 minutes ago

A judge sentenced Paris Hilton to 45 days in jail Friday for violating her probation, putting the brakes on the hotel heiress' famous high life.

Hilton, who parlayed her name and relentless partying into worldwide notoriety, must go to jail on June 5 and she will not be allowed any work release, furloughs, use of an alternative jail or any electronic monitoring in lieu of jail, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer ruled after a hearing.

NEW YORK - Following a protest, CNN has removed a link from its Web site to an organization that is raising money to fight illegal immigration

An advocacy group, the National Institute for Latino Policy, protested that Dobbs' on-air advocacy was expanding to include an endorsement of raising money for an organization.

After getting a letter from the group, CNN chief executive Jim Walton agreed to remove the link, CNN spokeswoman Christa Robinson said Friday

Two things caught my interest.  lol i have to say i am intrigued about Paris Hilton going to jail.  That should be interesting.  Also Merck not giving Brazil the same pricing as Thailand.  i would probably be ticked about not getting preferential treatment also.  oops i forgot to add i guess the US is financing the drug industry by having to pay full price.

Minnetar, correct, American citizens pay full price for prescription drugs so that people in foreign countries can pay less for them.
If someone in the U.S. gets aids they should go to Africa where the same drugs that would cost them $30,000 per year here would only cost them about $20 per month there.

Popeye the people who get abused are the people who are the ones who make too much money to qualify for medicaid but their company's medical insurance is too expensive to afford.  They don't meet poverty guidelines so they don't get the break.

Minnetar, those are EXACTLY the people who the govt and Big Pharma target to fuck over!
THOSE are the suckers paying for aids drugs for Africans.

look at the elderly who can't afford the medicare supplemental policies to cover drugs because of their caps.  i am not sure if you know of the Montell program about getting drugs from the pharmaceutical companies for a reduced priced based on income.

General reply -

Many US citizens who live near either the Northern border with Canada or the Southern border with
Mexico cross those borders to get their prescription medications cheaper.

What about the folks in the midwest who can't afford that?  Yes tons of folks run to Mexcio or try to buy their drugs from Canada.  Not all of the elderly have an internet connection and they are more fearful of that.

this is a serious problem and not everyone can have it solved by running to the borders when they aren't close to one.  My parents are elderly and my dad has great coverage through the AMA not so for my mother who only has a supplemental policy because they wouldnt cover her with the same coverage as my father who was a physician.
