I learned a rather interesting method for wax play a few years ago.. Though it involves some preparation, I find it to be a rather soulful experience. I like to use a paraffin bath(H&B section or Sally's Beauty Supply) to melt the wax, and then use wide paintbrushes to apply it, letting it cool, and making layers. This paves the way for some rather interesting variations, such as removing sections and placing more wax, or ice inside them... Also, it's fairly economic, because the wax can be pulled off and re-used, within reason. Also you can use turkey basters for evil joy. If you're concerned about pulling hairs, mineral oil on the skin before hand makes for a sensual preventative. Even works for bears, to a degree.
One could even get creative and fill these sections in with colours, but be careful with that, as colored candles melt with a higher temp, and can stain the skin. Also, the "jesus candles" that you find at the grocery store/discount store/fiestamart for about a buck apiece, work good for this, as they are parrafin wax. they wan be melted very easily in a water-filled crock pot, kept down around 130 degrees once the wax is melted. This makes color use fairly easy, because you can put several colors in one pot.. Also, though more expensive, Chakra(sp?) colored candles, for use in various forms of Asian Medicine have some really nice, VIVID colors to them. One of the Masters in my local community is famous (or is it INfamous) for having done a full-body wax-encasement scene, complete with colors. I didn't see it, but I saw the pics and the shell. He keeps it under the couch as a souvenir..
Now as for ice. Ice can be very interesting. The contrast between wax's heat and ice's cold is enough to SHOCK a submissive back to reality, or push her deeper below the surface. Ice is rather versatile, if molded right. Ice cubes can be glued together with a little water to make an ice dildo or even rubbed and sucked, like we used to do candycanes to make pointy evil poky objects to torment with. There are numerous molds out there that can be used and/or perverted.
I think what LA was referring to was the shocking contrast of the cold ice on heated, sensitized skin. That's pretty freaking evil, I must say. It could probably break somebody's buzz pretty quick. When my former and I were experimenting with the paraffin wax pot, she pulled a prank on me... she joked about brushing wax on my nads when she was waxing on my back, and then dribbled some icewater on them. I 'bout jumped clear off the bed and squealed like a girl. In the proper setting, Ice and wax can both lead to a most EXCELLENT mindfuck.
