I was, but I can see how it would have been a digression from the story line.

Fellow HP Addicts,

There's a 62-page (so far) thread at The Leaky Cauldron about loose ends left dangling in Deathly Hallows. I've only looked at a few pages, but folks raise some interesting questions. There's definitely a hunger, which I share, for a meatier epilogue.

Cheers,

DC

This book was amazing...I have cried, laughed... whooped for joy... and been heartbroken and relieved all in one day.  Mostly heartbroken as this is the end of the series.  I have the same questions as Celeste...plus...

What happened to Crookshanks and Pigwidgeon?
Did Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes survive?
Where did the giants go at the end of the battle?

And there's tons more...I wish the epilogue had been lengthier too...

Neville ROCKS!!!!

I was devastated by the deaths of Fred, Hedwig and Dobby.  Dobby especially.  He remans My favourite HP character. [:o]

FR...

I was just happy that they all didn't sit down at a diner and listen to Journey as the closing.  *That* would have been  loose ends.

Am I the only one who's disappointed that Harry and Draco didn't reconcile after all they'd been through in this book?

I'm also still puzzling over the metaphysics of Harry's death and nondeath?

I sort of assumed it had to do with it being the Elder Wand being the one which cast the killing curse and Harry having both the resurection stone and the cloak.

The master of all three Hallows is supposed to be the master of death.

Clearly the second time the Elder Wand would not kill its true master.

Also I'm assuming the Weasley that Teddy Lupin is snogging in the epilogue is Bill and Fleur's child.

Except that I think Harry dropped the Resurrection Stone on his way to meet Voldemort in the forest.

The two theories that have finally worked for me are (a) Harry was still protected by his mother's sacrifice, but the bit of Voldemort's soul was not and (b) the elder wand wouldn't work against its master (assuming Harry was right in thinking he was its master, which i have my doubts about).

I was also sad that Harry's owl and Dobby had to be killed off.  I've always loved that owl , and Dobby is the ultimate slave...[:(]

I've read all of the books, and I was not aware they had ever been friends.

They weren't, so reconciliation may have been the wrong word. It might be more precise to say I was hoping they'd manage some sort of friendliness. After all, they'd saved each other's lives.

dcnovice...i think they did reconcile to an extent, nodding to one another across the platform  at the end.

Even though the casualties were dear, some i expected...others i did not, but  i was prepared for much worse. As someone else stated, Ms Rowling ripped our hearts out then handed them back to us nicely. Always works.

Snape was Snape,  i knew from the moment i finished book 6 that Snape killing Dumbledore was pre arranged by them both to protect Malfoy and insure Snapes "loyalty to V.  His love for Lily ultimately outweighing his distaste for James and his son. albeit begrudgingly.

I knew Neville was destined for greatness in the fight.....loved that he became  a Professor.

I wasn't surprised when  Lupine died because it seemed likely that the entire group of Mr's Prongs..Padfoot...etc...would  pass on.

Like the rest of you who stated that you laughed cried...whooped....it was a great ride.

I wonder if  such a large gap between the end...and the epilogue was to allow for A). Rowling to fill in the "gap" at a later date if she chooses...or B). What i consider to be the less likely, sell the rights for someone else to do so.

MsSonnetMarwood -> RE: HP 7 Spoilers Galore (dont read it if you dont want to know) (7/23/2007 8:52:31 PM)

I really don't think we need to put "spoiler alerts" when the title of the thread is...yep.."HP 7 Spoilers - Don't Read If You Don't Want To Know" .   [sm=ofcourse.gif]

So I'll have to go back and re-read, but it was my understanding that the wand that Harry had when he went to be killed WAS the Elder Wand - Harry captured it from Draco, and Draco had taken it from Dumbledore in Half Blood Prince.   The wand that Dumbledore was buried with was NOT the Elder Wand, ergo Voldemort never had it, and Harry was in posession of all 3 relics.

But as Voldemort just didn't get - it didn't matter how powerful the wand is - it was all about the wizard behind it and their convictions.

Gawd I sound like a geek.

The problem is that recent posts appear in the scroll at th top of the page both here and when browsing on collarme. Putting in some space so no one sees a spoiler seems fair to me, at least for a week or two till the busier people have had a chance to finish the book.

No, Harry had the wand Draco bought from Mr. Ollivander. When Draco disarmed Dumbledore in HP6 the Elder Wand flew over the parapet and fell to the ground. In his monlogue at Voldemort he makes a point that Draco was the master of the Elder Wand even though he had never touched it.

BitaTruble -> RE: HP 7 Spoilers Galore (dont read it if you dont want to know) (7/23/2007 9:14:47 PM)

The spoiler alerts are because of the scrolling box on the other side giving away plot information accidently.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: HP 7 Spoilers Galore (dont read it if you dont want to know) (7/23/2007 9:22:15 PM)

It it some kinda of... I do not  know what to call it other than an obsession, that makes people read EVERY single thread, no matter what, even if they know that thread contains information that do not want to know?

When the OP started this it was quite clear that there would be so called "spoilers" so why read it in the first place?

And why get mad that the spoilers are not properly prepared for people who still want or have nbot finished the book???

It seems simple enough...

Do not read the "HARRY POTTER SPOILER THREAD" threads.

BitaTruble -> RE: HP 7 Spoilers Galore (dont read it if you dont want to know) (7/23/2007 10:25:10 PM)

This is not a spoiler.. more like.. a wish and a speculation. Hopefully, there will be enough filler in here so that I don't have to cast a Patronus charm. I'd rather like to keep secret what my animal looks like. ::grins::

Ok, time to decide what we'd like for an encore. Here's your opportunity to reveal all the secrets of the book which will probably never be written.

HARRY POTTER - BOOK 8!

What's the title?
Who is the evil villian?
What's the plot?

If JK Rowling ever writes a book 8, what does everyone want to see??

Title: Harry Potter and the Sacred Heart
Evil Villian: The King of the Dementors aka Voldy Jr.
The Plot:  Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange had a child who goes searching for a way to bring back dear ol' mummy and daddy. (Anyone else notice that you can spell the word dementors using some of the letters in Voldemort and LeStrange?) This child would be the same age as Ted and the time line will take place right after James and Albus Potter and the rest get dropped off at the train station. Right off the bat, good old Albus gets stuck in Potions with Scorpius who proceeds to terrorize the lad throughout the year. After one particularly horrendous day, Albus stumbles blindly into the Forbidden Forest, crying and swearing to seek revenge on Scorpius where he finds.. you guessed it, the Resurrection Stone dropped by his dad 19 years previously. This is of particular interest to Voldy Jr .. and away we go!

Call me a romantic old fool but the only new Harry Potter stories I want are the stories of how Ron and Harry propose.
