Americans are angry because a corporation has trade marked the evening sunsets.

This after the forces patented and copywrited our dreams. In order to participate, one must jump thru hoops and eat shit.

In addition, Archer Daniels Midlid has patented seeds for food stocks, water is about to be privatized.
The Internet is taking its last breathes- as it is taken over by telecoms. Clean air is squanderred thru the gutting of clean air laws. In effect giving ownership to private corporations.  Ownership of resources and soon even pensions [soc sec] are to the multi national corporations. Who increasingly own our future. [who pays for Iraq]

America is transform from an ownership society to a rent-a-center society.

When a population has no ownership, real people- the peasants shou revolt. If anything as with rental property- the occupants are not going to improve it as they would if they own. Thus folks renting jobs are just passing thru -again with no ownership.

Meth is bad news for sure.  The corporate media -a mouth piece of big money- may as well be meth. same outcome.

Sadly, this COULD be an interesting thread - and I know I'm going to get flamed here, just because I can :P - if only some would take it as an opportunity for open and honest discussion without malice or judgement.  That could very well be why we so often hear complaints of how boring or "same same" these forums have become.  While I love talking about sex, D/s or BDSM as much as anyone, isn't our community capable of so much more?  I personally think so.

While I'm so perkily expressing my opinion - people like the poster who so callously says "Fuck abortion, go back to the coat hangers" and "People who pervert the Constitution by saying that words have different definitions now should be summarily shot at sunrise" - even saying that for a humorous effect scares me almost as much as having George Bush as our president... luckily he'll be gone in another year, but that sort of attitude is difficult to overcome in this country.  Wasn't our country built on more open-minded attitudes than that?

(Ok, off my stump...)

:)

When you find a group of people who will discuss things without malice regarding differing opinions....you let me know. Those people are all invited down to Texas with me.

no politics.  If they are concerned that we are angry, why don't they realize we are fed up with all of them.
It is so bad that for the first time in my life, I don't think I will vote because whomever goes in, is over their heads.

Malice  is here- agreed.

Every now and then I hear from someone via email.  The jist is the same. Then I wonder how many look -but out of fear of malice- wont post. There is a good handful that feel this way.

Truly something to think about.

There should be more honest debate(not screaming at each other) because that's what this country was built on. Unfortunatly, we now have politcal correctness, and if your against the PC view, you are wrong, not matter what.  You can not have an honest debate without offending someone, and that is not done any more. No matter what the facts say, or what the documented history says, everything has to be PC. i guess i am abarbarbarian because i don't believe in the whole everybody wins, guns are bad,  red meat is bad,  don't  do controlled burns, don't hurt the deer,  global warming is real  fantasy.
i have no problem with rational discusion on those subjects, but most people who support them can only give the same answers over and over,  with no real knowledge of what they are saying.
I may disagree with what you say, but i will defend to the death your right to say it.

Americans are angry because they're caught in a society built around corporations who basically control their lives.  You go to work at crack of dawn and slave away through politics.  Then they own your ass and you're still begging/dying to keep your job eventhough employed through a feeding frenzy.  Then all the money you earn from slaving away all day goes to seeking stress relief from the job.  What a dehumanized culture.   And anyone who complains is a bum and is chastized.  What a trap.  At least with all the competition and stress, it makes you stronger if you use it the right way to make it work for you.

Ultimately, he's just another "free market" lunatic.

C'mon Sugar

You’ve greatly mischaracterized Ron Paul here. How can Dr. Paul be another ''free market lunatic'' when he’s been a firm advocate of a constrained dollar-per-dollar /import-export trade policy?

A ''fair'' free trade policy as defined by Ron Paul, is truly the antithesis of Friedman’s cronyistic, false-free market practices.

Now honestly….if you are only speaking in the context of his position surrounding universal healthcare – I understand your displeasure. But even you have to admit that Ron Paul’s desire to move the country to a ''single payer system'' is a big step in the right direction. It seems to me that at least Ron Paul is advocating the elimination corporatist middlemen.

You haven't done much research on actual historical debates in American history, have you? The period of relative calm that existed between the parties from the Eisenhower to the Clinton administrations has been the exception, not the rule.

OK, I'll take back that "Fuck abortion, go back to coathangers". I didn't mean to scare anyone. But the point is that I am diametrically opposed to Ron Paul on the subject. It is not whether abortion is right or wrong, it is whether the government should be involved.

I agree that abortion is wrong, it is murder. I am all for it. You do it, I won't. If you can kill your kids, please do, don't wait for someone else to do it. Sad fact of life which eludes the honorable Mr. Paul. He has the point of view that life begins at conception, OK I'll agree with that. He thinks the government should protect life from the moment of conception, I do not agree with that.

I agree with Paul on alot of things, and that includes healthcare. We already have socialized medicine, but in the form of insurance. License, insurance and debt are totally against what this country is supposed to stand for. We made doctors rich, that would not happen without insurance. You get them back down to $50K to $80K a year and let the hospital administrators make even less, you'll get a CAT scan for about $50. You might be diagnosed with cancer and say "Oh shit, where am I going to come up with that $2,000 for the treatment ? ". But they'll have a payment plan. You'll know the chance of success by whether they require a cosigner for the payment plan.

Personal responsibility, YOU pay, therefore YOU direct the treatment. Even though you may owe them money, it is your life we are talking about here. They could never have more vested interest in saving you than you.

When you live in a society in which 80% of the TV ads are for drugs something is wrong. When they advertise prescription drugs directly to the public, something is very wrong. This whole thing has gotten out of hand. The drug companies buy influence all the time, and the reason they allow any debate even, over universal health care, is because they see it as a source of revenue. This corruption is at the highest levels. The people who run the FDA are not only in cahootz with the drug companies, some of them still work for the drug companies.

The medical industry would take a serious ass whippin if I were President. So would the media. I would have a Citizens' Quality Review Board, I hear they have something like that in England. From what I've read, it's one of the reasons that the BBC for example is more fair, balanced and complete than the US news outlets. This Citizen's body, rather than bought bureaucrats would decide which media outlets are acting in the public interest, and thus, who gets their license.

This, I must start a thread about. I don't want to get hijacked into that subject here.

I have one major disagreement with Paul, and I think that speech was shitty. But that does not disuade my support. He is indeed what we need.

However, I saw Obama the other day, quite compelling.
