It would be interesting if a large number of Dommes hit on him... Due to the hot picture, of course.... Find out just how "Dom" he really is.  <evil grin>

oh that is good!!!

juliaoceania -> RE: the value of a picture? (11/19/2007 7:59:42 PM)

Placed some importance on the man having a picture of themselves on profile because when they did not I wondered if they might be married.

If someone wants to take my likeness and use it there is not much I could do about that, so I do not worry about that.

I have had people take my words and use them, which bothers me more than a photo of me.

texancutie -> RE: the value of a picture? (11/19/2007 8:02:18 PM)

I place some value in a picture, but not a lot of it.  The content and location is what is important as well.   Though I have noticed a number of profiles with things written verbatim.  I usually wonder if that person has multiple profiles in various locations due to business travel, maybe they think they can dupe more people, or they are just totally uncreative and had to invent a 'personality' by stealing another's words.

Omgosh that is you!  Guess that guy feels that distance could hide the fact he stole someone else's picture.  Wonder what happens when he shows up in person to meet someone....if he even ever does.

I share this opinion.   A photo can be easily discounted and proven false.... but ones words is alittle different.  Secondly... Words express a much deeper part of a person and cheapens it for some to use them to their selfish advantage.

psssssst Irish... keep this quiet.... but I figure dropping the nic... well it will generate alot of activity for the guy checking out the profile... he gonna get all excited that people are checking him out.....   the irony is.. the mind game he is trying to play.. is being played on him.  me hopes he doesn't read the forums

i looked and that is amusing and totally sad. Hopefully it messes with his head though. Poseur!:) Couldn't he have chosen someone who is not so prevelant on the boards? LOL....he must not go on here so i think your plan will work.

Edited to add: my Master/Daddy had that happen to him a couple years back on MySpace...was comical.

Plus, I wouldn't want to think someone is just agreeing with me on the forums 'cause I have great tits[:D].  One's mind may be respected more if a gorgeous face isn't plastered beside it.  It's nice when someone likes what I write and I know it's not because they like my pic.  Some of the greatest minds here don't show their face (cough....ownedgirlie....cough) and that doesn't take away one bit of their "value" in my eyes.................luci

Haha, you've seen my face, and you do have great tits, LOL.

I don't think picture stealing is an unusual phenomenon.  A lot of pictures are watermarked for that reason.

I've shown my picture to a select few.  Once I've struck up a dialogue with someone who I like and respect, it's nice to let them know who they're talking to.  I did make the mistake, however, of trusting a "friend" enough with a naked photo of me dancing for my Master, and she used it to try to blackmail me later.  But hey, I have great tits, too, so enjoy! [8D]

And I agree, the written word is much more valuable than a photo.

It's obviously a tribute to your most excellent fashion sense.  Very nice wardrobes there.

KoM,
Not only do you have a doppleganger, he shops at the same leather store you do!!
I must admit, he chose a NICE pic to pirate.. That one has always been my favorite...

I have had several subs email me that they have seen my pics posted elsewhere.. It didn't bother me much.. I guess I should be a bit more careful though..

Luci,
I don't know if anyone recalls my original avatar (it's on my profile..shows only the bottom of my face and wearing a black bustier) ... I can't believe my plan (to hypnotize people with my rack so they would take my posts more seriously) was so transparent.. DAMN!! LOL..  I'd like to think it helped keep the flaming down a bit though.[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m11.gif[/image]

ResidentSadist -> RE: the value of a picture? (11/19/2007 8:50:20 PM)

Someone once said, “a picture is worth a thousand words” and I place greater weight on people with profile photos.  It makes them more tangible to a degree.

It’s always nice to see the face attached to a person’s posts or profile.  Body language can help portray attitude.  And, if you are shopping for a relationship, you can cross reference their photo against the wanted posters at the post office.

junecleaver -> RE: the value of a picture? (11/19/2007 9:06:37 PM)

I don't place a lot of value on a picture.  Before I met my Dominant, he had a horrible picture on his profile.  When we met in person, I was pleasantly suprised.  Pictures can be deceiving.  I have been informed before that there are other people using some of my pictures.  If I get their screenname, I politely ask them to stop using my picture.  Beyond that, there's nothing I can do and no point in fretting about it.  It's kind of flattering in a perverse way.  I've been copied on the internet in a lot of different places---myspace/livejournal/greatestjournal/b.com.   It's what happens when you don't get to control the internetz.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: the value of a picture? (11/19/2007 9:11:32 PM)

Unless I really get intrigued by someone on the boards, I don't even look at profiles if they don't have a pic.

This is off topic, but you I sent you an e-mail Miss Tress.   It has not been read and I respectfully request you consider it something other than the normal pile of spam you receive.   A simple answer would be greatly appreciated even if the answer is a simple no thank you.

Sweet1Maybe4U -> RE: the value of a picture? (11/19/2007 9:15:13 PM)

Dear Knight,

Anyone who reads the boards can clearly identify that picture as being your handsome self. Its sad that he would steal your image like that. His must be just awful.
As far as the photos go, my Dom doesnt have a photo on His profile at all. I didnt even know what He looked like when we first started chatting. It was His sense of humor and the fact that He could actually write well that made me enjoy Him.
He did send me pics after a month or so of  chatting . I never asked to see the photo because I wanted to know if I were attracted to Him for all the other reasons that I had posted on my profile. It was important that all those criteria be met before I even worried about His looks. It was He that wanted me to see Him...almost a need He had for me to look at Him. Or maybe the suspense was killing Him to see my thoughts about His looks. *smiles..
In times past Ive allowed the physical to cloud my judgements regarding picking the right mate...and well, now that Im older its more important that I be compatible with my Dom on many levels including "vanilla".
Needless to say I wasnt disappointed in viewing His pics. BUT...was it because He is handsome to me...?  OR is it because I was already attracted to Him in the areas I needed?..*blinks,  Marva

allcatsaregrey -> RE: the value of a picture? (11/19/2007 9:19:44 PM)

First, as someone who tries earnestly to place an emphasis personality before looks, I don't necessarily need to see a picture right off the bat. However, if I take a liking to someone, I'd prefer to know what they look like before meeting - of course! I don't have a profile picture simply because I'm not ready to have one, and also, the lack of one has seemed to help me weed out the trolls. If requested, I'd provide one, though. 'Cause, I'm not a quasimodo - I'm very cute, if I do say so m'self. :-P

For reference, I can see why they would take your pictures - you are really beautiful! Hope you don't mind I added my two cents. :)

Check your email....

yourMissTress -> RE: the value of a picture? (11/19/2007 9:33:19 PM)

yes, I did, and thanks to muttling, I checked my bulk mail, it took him less than 20 minutes to reply.  In my email I commented that it was a pity he cut off the face and his reply stated "believe me, you wouldn't want to see it"!

HA!!!
