Why are people calling this journalism? This is an editorial, and that is a big problem with all of the media, concerning anything. Rather than just report the news, they comment on it  as well. This is why it really is not news, just entertainment.

I'm not gonna defend the indefensible: The reporter who made the "monkey" comment was totally out of line.

That said, it bears noting that the other reporters immediately pounced on her statement. They're as much as a part of "the media" as she is.

She was speaking about the appeal of the men in the shot, I took her comment to be about how unappealing he is to her as a woman, and as a fellow woman I have to agree that compared with the other guy Bush looks like a monkey

I don't see even the faintest news value in her take on the manly appeal of Sarkosy, Bush, or anyone else.

This was television news, are you telling me they cover things with "value"? Who knew? I certainly didn't

I told my Daddy that repeatedly when he insisted Bush was a "monkeyboy"

Would you see the news value had it been on Fox News, and it were talk about the "bitch" in the middle (or whatever)?

Well, as I said above, I almost never watch TV news, precisely because there's way too much banal blather instead of actual information.

I will say that nothing on tv is "right" "left" or "the middle".. it is all just propaganda to sell products... perhaps you will awaken one day to that little fact. If it does not sell it is not covered

You were clapping and giggling like a school girl about the "propaganda" just a few minutes ago.  Why the sudden change...

I think you misunderstood me. What I was saying, in response to Julia's comment about the reporter's voicing her sense of who appealed to her as a woman, was that I thought the whole line of discussion was inappropriate. I see no earthly reason why MSNBC is paying this twit to tell us whom she finds attractive when she should be reporting the news.

To be honest, unless this was a spectacularly bad day for her, I'd fire this reporter.

To bring the crybabies up to speed, "monkey in the middle",is not a reference to monkeys.Ok?lol

It referees to the person caught in the middle, stuck in the middle, ect.

It`s not a put down, like Rush calling soldiers apposed the the Iraq war ,"phony".Now that was a put down and wasn`t a mistake or a slip of the tongue.

"She meant to say..."  "She said..."      The spin in here is making me dizzy.  Watch the video.  She says what she says, with contempt in her voice, she's "not talking about the monkey."

But that's only because she's 'critical.'

Thank God for changes of venue.  I need a drink.

I did misunderstand you, and so I apologize. I m sorry about that.

But she was apparently suffering from "jet lag" so maybe the oh-so middle-of-the-road folks at MSNBC will allow her to keep her job

Well, that's fine for you to say because you are clearly partisan, and there is nothing wrong with that. I am too. But the point is, I don't want my news "spun" by someone who is clearly partisan either way - my way or yours. Neither one. Or at least if they're partisan, let that be clearly known, and I won't have a problem with that either. I think that commentary should be separate from the news, and vise-versa.
