As long as you have the basics, then the amount you spend is up to your budget. I have TON's of gear and usually use only a few pieces.

I do know this however, what you have does not mean what you know. Think of it this way, you are without any gear.are you still a dom? Yes, if were one before. No if toys dictate who you are.

Don't use credit cards to buy toys. There are plenty of alternatives to designer BDSM gear- hardware shops are a good source for rope, bondage fastenings etc. Last time I was out of work I really wanted heavy steel restraint gear so I made them myself -learned how to weld etc. One problem if you are on a tight budget is rubber clothing (if that is your thing!) Good rubber is expensive, and cheap rubber is a waste of money.
I have a friend thinks little of spending £500 or more on a piece of bondage gear such as a leather strait jacket. But he has a damn good job. I have never spent more than £120 on any one item

I'm curious about this - how much would you say is too much to spend? Or dose it all nnot matter as long as you're having fun?

Too much should be a matter of common sense.
If you can't pay your bills and your financial obligations?
Then you have spent too much!

if you're unable to pay for gas, food, and bills then you're spending too much on fetish gear and clothes.

well as long as the spending does not go out of your means i see nothing wrong. but if there's something you can't afford right off determine just how important the object is over what is to be paid for on a regualr basis.

if i may offer a suggestion, if you are creative or around someone who is look into making certain things on your own. two examples, one on a more personal level my Lord made the collar and manacles i wear. also weve had alot of bills come up and His wife/my Mistress wanted to purchase a wooden paddle.we knew online it wouldn't be affordable at this time. but since we were out over the weekend running errands at the craft store we found exactly what we were looking for at over half the cost of what online cost would be for the wooden paddle.we found the same thing made of pine for $6. we are not cheap by any means but go by what's affordable at the time..............after all paying the electric and heating bills right now are more imporatnt that huge expenses doing online shopping.

just a thought

FR ,,, spend what you can afford to spend ...

luckily for me ... the pretty lacy ...silky ... frilly things I count as "essential" toys ... are cheap and freely availbale ... its the "come whip me shoes" that cost the money

Your savings should allow you to live normally without a job for two years. That includes going out for pizza, movies, etc. As long as you aren't going into debt to finance these toys, then have fun.

And if you get anything really awesome, do post details!
