I have received a few decent emails here over the years. This is a new SN, but I have been a member of CM before, and have had a few positive email experiences. I'll list them, and if you have questions on any of them, you may drop me a line:

1) Email clearly indicates he's read my profile.
2) He has something interesting to share about the local scene or a venue I might enjoy.
3) He doesn't suggest I need him to keep me in line or talk about Mastering me in line two of an email that only has four lines total.
4) Good sense of humor.
5) Correct use of spelling and punctuation.

Read through the posts, and I have to say that many suggestions are untrue, at least for the women I message. I get about a 5% response rate, including people just messaging me to say they aren't interested or that just looked at my profile and didn't return my message. Usually, my initial email goes like this:

[Greeting]

[Brief statement of what in their profile or journal attracted me to them]

[If they have a profile pic, a gentlemanly statement regarding their physical attractiveness]

[Something about myself that I don't share in my profile that I think they'd like]

[Invitation to examine my profile and message me in return]

WARNING: The rest of this post is a bunch of numbers. I know love laughs at numbers, you don't have to tell me.

Now, I realize that anyone "new" and on here may get scared when they get a real message, and that I am nowhere near the norm, even for the BDSM world. That said, I see about a 30% response rate (only actual messages) from a vanilla dating site I'm on (yes, I'm open about being a kinky bastard when I message people there) and the published global data for there is a response rate (same) of 23%. Assuming unknown varialables to be equal, that implies about a 4% global response rate on collarme.

Sample space for personal messages: collarme n~80, vanilla site n=24 global: collarme n~900,000, vanilla n~1.4 million

Good one, Greedy! I have a few that email me every month or two, always with the same copy/paste message. Ugh.

@WeaselWelder- I thought your profile was very interesting and well thought out, but there are no pics. I suspect that some of your sent mails are being filtered for this reason. You might want to consider putting up a pic or two and see if your response rate goes up. You don't need to show your face, a full body (clothed) shot of you from behind will do just fine, or one that shows you from the front but obscures your face. Other than that, my only suggestion is that you maybe make more with the funny with your initial approach. You are seeking an independent type of sub, and making us laugh is the best way to get a response :)

If my messages were getting filtered, they wouldn't be opened. Under 20% are unopened. Also, I have a blank square for a profile pic, since I personally find body-only pics to be in bad taste and a turn off when I see them. On top of that, through experimentation, I've determined that the "no profile" filter only filters messages from profiles with no pic, no text, no audio greeting, and no video greeting.

All that said, I feel the need to point out that I was not complaining about my lack of responses. I've accepted that nice guys finish last, but that they'll also finish with someone who'll appreciate nice guys. My post was meant to show how being a nice guy works around here, and to imply my suspicion that the asshats get more, albeit not better, responses for less effort.
