From the first linked story:
quote:

"None associated with the demonstrations sought permits," Browne said Saturday.

From the third:
quote:

The people taken into custody during two incidents in Zuccotti Park include a protester who used a bullhorn without a permit

Does nobody else see a conflict between those two statements and this one?
quote:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I hope they keep it up.  If I had the money for a trip to NYC right now, I'd join them.

Despite the Corporate Media Blackout on this event, it appears to be continuing...

I would imagine that the argument would be that Congress hasn't created the requirement for permits; the requirement is by local law.

Having been a co-signer on a permit application to a non-protest assembly in NYC, I can tell you personally, if they don't like the cut of your jib, or politics, ain't no permit coming.
Not that that negates the point you're making.

It's an occupation.. so technically, they're supposed to stay even though their non-hostages go home... So fret not.

It`s a great little example of democracy in action.

Messy, loud, raucous,in your face and real and un-nerving to some.

Skip`s right, unless it`s the save the bunnies or a cancer fundraiser you`re not getting a permit.

I think they all knew that and still took the risk anyway, because of how strongly they feel.

They are grass-roots obviously, not corporate funded like the tea-party and definitely didn`t get bused in from all over, on buses payed for by the Koch brothers.

And unlike the State Sponsored terrorism that is the Tea Party, these grass roots patriots can be subject to arrest.
