Thanks for the tips SS

I joined the Facebook page. That's all I can do from this distance. I'd love to be there. It sounds dynamic and interesting.

I just asked because it is a little confusing. Our Charter applies to all levels of government, doesn't your Bill of Rights apply everywhere, or does it only apply to Congress?

I was actually addressing the lady so concerned about local ordinances. Yeah Heather, that's become EXACTLY what it's about... specially since the weekend when NYPD reportedly started keeping prisoners in a van outside the police precinct building and allegedly denying a kid with a concussion medical attention.
What caused me to find the 'official' page was a call at dinner time from an old girlfriend (like highschool era) who started off after telling me who gave her the number .... "Hey Skip, you still throw stuff at police cars?" ... turns out her daughter goes to U Conn and went down there with 20 or 30 other Jrs and she's lost touch with her since Saturday morning. ... I basically gave her what was in the thread and then went looking for more.
   This thing is growing exponentially
My good friend CharlieSheenBoosters on facebook is making wide open appeals to all the deadheads.

So a state or local government could establish an official religion or arrest people for criticizing the government?

SternSkipper -> RE: People are Occupying Wall Street in protest over their Corporate Overlords (9/27/2011 7:48:24 AM)

This just in... WHOMEVER has hired private security to mass at the back of the PUBLIC PARK in which the protesters sleep, eat, and get an occasional break from the action.
WTF - This is like something out of a college history book and the steel workers or coal miners strikes of the previous century.
ONE KEY DIFFERENCE THOUGH, THESE FOLKS PROTESTING ARE LIKE YOU AND ME. THEY DON'T WORK FOR THESE MOTHERFUCKERS ON WALL STREET. AND THESE SONS OF BITCHES IN THEIR IVORY TOWERS ARE ACTING OUTSIDE THE LAW IN A HUGE WAY. SENDING HIRED THUGS ONTO PUBLIC LAND WHEN THEY SUFFER NO DAMAGES OR ANY TRESPASS FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF INTIMIDATION IS A VIOLATION OF THE PROTESTOR'S CIVIL RIGHTS (RIGHT TO LIBERTY, RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH, RIGHT TO LAWFUL ASSEMBLY).
AND BEYOND THAT, IT'S JUST PLAIN EVIL.
LOOK AT THESE FUCKERS AND TELL ME WITH A STRAIGHT FACE YOU'D THINK IT WAS OKAY IN THEY CAME TO FUCK WITH YOUR TEA PARTY

Its irrelevant. The SCOTUS has ruled that local governments have the right to regulate the time, place and manner of speech, just not the content of the speech.

I would imagine that the argument would be that Congress hasn't created the requirement for permits; the requirement is by local law.
Well doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?

I'm sorry, Heather... I just now saw that you'd asked this question.

I'll address it in your thread.

Aneirin -> RE: People are Occupying Wall Street in protest over their Corporate Overlords (9/28/2011 7:18:09 AM)

So What ?

She is just another ex protester amongst thousands, why should her face be known, ah, I see, you are thinking those that protest do so because they are following someone else's example, as if it was protest season or something, where those that like to protest come out and find something to protest about ?

Does it not occur that not everyone follows the celebrity culture ?

I think his point is that successful people can't possibly be left leaning, so it has to be a publicity stunt, after all, leftists are all on welfare and all that, right?

What's funny is that he doesn't get these people are [arty-less in this endeavor...THIS EVENT looks bad for each and every politician in the country. Because these people aren't making up what they're protesting. And the real issues are terrifying, because to actually address em and STAND THE FUCK UP, they're gonna have to let go of the teat.

NO SHIT LUCY! Ya know, if there was someone really savvy in the Niagra Toronto area that wanted to wipe out the ratings competition. They could put a big video billboard facing across the falls and suck away the region's viewers. I called a friend at the Boston Globe who normally writes sports two days ago. And while we were on I asked why it was getting the cold shoulder and he said and I quote "Two Words ...'Fidelity' and 'Goldman'"
