Status: offline 		I believe in God, but I can also appreciate what the doubters have to offer. God made them too. I do not always believe what they say is cogent, however. Skepticism has a place, just don't get overly carried away with it. It too is a religion.

In response to "The Erosion of Progress by Religions" the religious have a point though you are intentionally ignoring it.

In response to "James Randi: Sleep of Reason" I am a Christian mystic and as such I am familiar with the topic. I suspect some mystics given into peer pressure. In order to be recognized you have to give the crowd what it wants and those who have given in figure what they are doing is benign, little white lies.

Do watch the videos and add your commentary. In post 108 in the ObamaCare and Mandatory Automobile Insurance thread I wrote:

If the situation was an either-or situation where it must be exactly one or the other, finding the truth would be fairly easy, but that isn't the real world per se. Things are a bit more complicated, more difficult than that.

That was an excellent contribution to the topic Moonhead. I found what you said very interesting and I would have to agree that as a rule of thumb that the sleep of reason does produce monsters. The political divisions between the skeptics and the religious is not reason, however.

Your prowess does not intimate me Moonhead since men of substance are badly needed. It is a credit to you that you knew something that I did not.

I think this is what men of the Enlightenment believed. It is a kind of I'm Enlightened attitude where the enlightened male shows to the enlightened female that he understands when he doesn't have a clue.

Status: offline 		What was interesting about the "The Erosion of Progress by Religions" video was it discussed the Arab enlightenment period. There was a rebellion. Was the objection irrational? I think politics is irrational. I'm an intellectual and those things that came from the enlightenment period are appealing to me, but I do see a dark side to the enlightenment.
