Yep, your son can participate in an after school voluntary prayer group on school property. Atheists are guaranteed the equal right to have our own clubs, we routinely don't get them though.

We're not trying to use politics to force our viewpoint on others. We are standing up and demanding that our rights stop being violated.

Atheism isn't a religion any more than theism is a religion. Both are labels that get applied to a variety of positions according to one single criteria.
