I personally am very masochist, but not very submissve. I do have some submissive traits, I enjoy certain aspects of power exchange, but not all of them across the board. I am my own person, and couldn't be with anybody who sought more control than I was willing to give. I do enjoy pain, in many applications, on a regular basis. I find it instantly liberating and a wonderful stress relief. There are also certain aspects of my personality that I seek to curb, and need the assistance of another to do so...That is where Sir comes in.

Not necessarily. A Dominant masochist who directs the scene, IMO can not press their pain tolerence limits. I do not direct my pain scenes where I recieve, because I want to be pushed to my breaking point, or outlast my Tops doing it (something I take great pride in. I'm a rather competitive bottom.).

As a Dominant sadist, in that case, I do control the scene, and tend to resent scenes with dommy bottoms. My slave is the first person who has been able to show me just how deeply my sadism runs, because she is the first person I've done anything to, that I can press just about as far as I want to go. Before this, I was of the impression that I was more masochistic than sadistic, but now know that is not the case.

Slipstreme, I would be eager to learn how you behave dominantly if you're not making the decisions or in control when you're bottoming. How does this work for you?

I can and have taken a sadist to his limit (not my own, alas), which involved a considerable amount of pain for me. Like you, I'm delighted by the competition element. It's fun to make someone do something he doesn't particularly want to do, and being on the receiving end of the cane doesn't change that. If you would like to hear more about my approach, I'd be happy to discuss it via email.

No, being a masochist and a submissive or independent of one another.  What may be muddying the waters for the people speaking with you is the fact that yoiur profile says, You want to be trained and ordered, which would imply some level of submission.

I am maso but not submissive, is it possible?

*tilts head to one side confused*

Are you suggesting that you yourself are not possible?

I don't know you in meatlife so I can only by what you say. Do you think you are possible?

Are you asking if you are alone?

No, not at all. You are similiar to many people in this having this division between enjoying pain and sensation and enjoying submission.

Are you asking if there is some big tome that has been written and accepted by the great bishops of BDSM which has definitions and orientations written it in?

It is a myth, a hopeful creation of those starting out and wishing to follow guidelines or fit in with the masses or it is perhaps a creation of those wishing to control those looking for such guidelines and fit in.

Our scene is frequently called BD/SM which is actually a three part abbreviation.

We havr Bondage and Discipline(BD), Domination and Submission(DS), and Sadism and Masochism(SM). Thus 4 initals can cover all 6 parts.

There are lots of definitions one will hear about the terms used in our scene, but the important thing you need is to understan what works for you. It does not matter what it is called, as long as it is right for you.

We do not know what is or is not going to be "our thing" until we have tried a number of things. It is important to find partners you can respect and trust, and to negotiate what you are willing to try.

Consensuality (all parties are adults who knowingly consent to all that goes on) is essential.

It is not a problem if you find that the things you sek and want and your hard limits vary with different people. This scene has the potential of very deep emotional energy exchange, and that energy will vary when one interacts with different people. Sometimes we are dominant with someone and submissive with someone else. We may be sadistic with one and masochistic with another. We are all unique.
As always, your mileage may vary.  vield
