Status: offline 		Has anyone ever gotten to that point?  Or has anyone ever taken someone else to that point?   Where during a session or scene, you find yourself taken to a place of primal connection, as gutteral sounds may be the only thing you feel building from your depths?  Have you ever felt that beast like sensation creep over your body and shut your mind down so completely that you feel like you're taken to an altered state where perhaps the growling urge is to lash or strike out?
 
i have been taken there, and i wrote a paper on it, to try to understand it better.  When i shared it with a friend, she also referred me to a site where it is called the feral stage.  Just curious about other's experiences in this area, as i do not often see it discussed all that much.

Status: offline 		I have. It wasn't sceening anymore, it was pure animalistic urge. It was good hehe, however not something I'd want on a regular basis. Both my ex and I were sore for a couple of days afterwards. I don't think it's something that you can be taken to, perhaps something can be done to set it off in you....

Status: offline 		I agree with Steelriven in that for Himself and I, it something which happens when the energy 'makes' it happen. Usually, when we doing fluff stuff, like he's flogging/cropping or spanking me things along those lines, the energy just isn't there for take downs or primal.. but when he grabs me by the hair, drags me somewhere, starts biting me .. well, that's more likely to end with both of us bleeding and breathless. Absolutely delicious. ;)

MM yup.

Primal play isn't discussed very often.  Heck we're all so uptight about the dom ALWAYS being in control and primal play is pretty much losing ALL control and going on pure emotion and energy.  Most people get horrified at the thought of playing in anger- when anger can be a key component to many forms of primal play.

I think it's a great form of play, a great headspace to be able to go to and wallow in.

I can relate, though I have understood the primal mind capable of lashing out as easily as crouching calmly. Reflecting upon that, your discovery of the apt named "feral stage" is perhaps a better description for that state of fierce wildness so often spoken of.

It is peculiar how humans often associate animality foremost with aggression and savagery, being that we are the greatest destroyers now at the height of our technocratic "civilization." I have always attributed the primal thought form with giving rise to a finer attunement of the base senses and visceral responses; it may be aggressive or deeply nurturing, lustful or venomous, but at its core I associate primality with the bright circle of an animal's honesty. I don't think it's such a bad place to be, in fact, nor is it really too difficult to reach, so long a you allow yourself to.

Status: offline 		raiken, i too have been brought to that place twice. it is the strangest feeling..this primal urge just comes over you and you lose all sence of yourself but what a fascinating feeling and the after glow is something to truely savor. im not sure what triggers me as it has only been twice but i wish i could figure it out. i do know that both times i have been on top during sex.

Status: offline 		The times it has come out with me have usually been times when I was combining sex with BDSM things. I would start to whip or whatever very hard and know that she was responding to it and my lovemaking (okay, fucking) more than usual. Quite an experience for both.

Ooooooo you people do that also, I generally only get in that sort of a state when doing vanilla sex and am with a man who is capable of surviving the encounter, it is not something I have ever done while in a BDSM scene because I have to concentrate and be sensible and to let myself go in such a way would be irresponsible. I find it is not really something I can control and I think I would not want to control it even if I could I just have to be in the right mind set and with the right partner etc. I don’t like the idea of calling it the feral stage though that makes it sound like we become a mangy dog. I think I will stick to the traditional term and just call it insatiability I am not a fan of the sitting around a camp fire awakening ones inner beast thing.

Status: offline 		Yes I reach it quite often, actually.  My first experiences frightened me a bit because they seemed so rage-filled. Interestingly, it was in those places where I worked a lot of anger out of myself.  I often feel the beast within when venturing deep inside, but it is not necessarily savage.  I might growl or snarl, or I might whimper and coo.  In each case, I am at the base of my core being, and it is raw and beautiful and quite wonderful. When Master brings me there he knows I have shed all barriers, all pretense, all inhibition.  I am completely given over in entirety.  It is quite awesome.

Status: offline 		Ah thank you all for sharing.  For me it is animalistic and very basal.  i also understand about it going either way, as different areas of the mind are invoked, as in a limbic docile and gentle state or that reptilian urge to strike with agression, it is a feeling and not a thought in me.  There were times when i even appeared stoic.  At other times i was captured by his direct eye contact, i couldn't find the strength to look away.  Master said that one time, he really did feel to maintain eye contact with me for control.  At that time, i felt like a deer in the head lights; completely unable to move, while this rage of undercurrent stirred from deep inside.  While the growl wanted to escape my throat, while i wanted to lash out, i was subdued by his gaze alone.  That was a strangely mad crazy kewl time.  i almost felt like i was somewhere very far away, but yet strangely aware and alert in my physical being.  During these times, i have no coherant thoughts or words, not one.  i feel that for me, this type of  experience travels beyond social dynamics, as the mind shuts down for a while and a more primitive nature of instinct and sensation take over.  Each new experience i have in this area is truly a very freeing and uninhibited state of being.  i guess if i went there too often, it may loose this affect?  i wonder...on the other hand, it is good to deeply connect with my body in this way, feels natural and right for me, ancient even!   *smile

I found for me it does not lose that affect.  Instead I just go to newer, deeper, and more intense places.

Status: offline 		i haven't with anyone but i personally have been there during my solo sessions. i view it as something that shouldn't be shocking since we all are pretty much evovled animals anyway and since we are animals we do have some basic needs/urges.

Status: offline 		Oh yes...definitely been to that circling, growling, purely animal place during sexual encounters. It's usually during sex - particularly during sex that involves pain. It's pretty interesting to provoke those kinds of responses. Also...it's hot.

The primal urger to make is overopowering and the wilder and rougher the sex the more satisfying and powerfull it is. It uis of coyurse an altered state which shamans use when becomming their power animals with out the sexual urges or blood lust. I tend to feel that the Norse beserkers were in the primal state in battle too for this is how I tend to be but without the red rage and rather in an icy state.I have oft stated here on the boards when I am really pissed off that I'm a barbarian. In a barbarian mind set i am partly in a primal state with one thing in mind and that is to destroy a perceived foe.. Sexually wise, I see I want In take (ok civilised and logical rational and reason saves me from doing this to inappropriate targets at inappropriate times or locations.) but there are women who can bring me to this by a look ot other indications which make it obvious they are on heat and need to mate. I just use other techniques to bring the desired prey to me willingly.
