I think that if people are on drugs their behavior is tends to be indicative of it. It means you should get to know someone and who they are before giving your heart to them.

Personally I would rather be with a dopehead than an alcoholic.. but I have had people close to me that killed themselves slowly with that drug and I have control issues today with my own reality states due to that experience. Many people have tried things in their younger days without becoming addicted (like me). My experiences were often not of a recreational nature, but of a spiritual one.

That pretty much describes me, I have no real problem with people altering their perceptual framework, I cannot find any valid constitutional reason for preventing it, but through experience, I've learned that the best drugs are in your brain - drugs simulate experience without the emotional engagement, and so, to me, are really just playing at experience, and what is initially an experiment at altering perception becomes a crutch that doesn't really do you or anybody else any good.

So I'm not too uptight if you want to smoke a joint and chill, change gears or whatever, or maybe drop a hit of really good acid once in a while - not into anything harder, and in fact don't even want it around myself or my children, don't even want to know about it, if you can dig.

And a genuine, full blown Jones for any substance, except maybe food, or coffee is very much a hard limit for me - I may have a co-dependent streak, but I've already done that one, and it was a real drag. You wanna quit, I'm yer guy, otherwise, find another sucker.

Same with alchohol, which, while legal, is a cruder and more corrosive drug by far then the majority of controlled ones - among other things, it reduces your ability to discern cues from body language, which is why so many people get dramatic or get their asses kicked.

I'll take a drink to set me back a couple of steps, and as far as I'm concerned, that is the limit to the usefulness of any recreational mind altering substance.

In other words, if you can't do when you're stone cold sober, you aren't really doing it - you're just goin' through the motions.

Maybe it's me, but you'll need to be a little more wordy if you're replying to me and hoping to make sense to me.    M

What you're speaking of is inherently isolated to the US.  We're so uptight here in the states that we castigate those who have a cocktail with dinner before coming to the dungeon to play.  We don't know how to be responsible adults, or so it seems.  In my travels to Europe and Canada, I've come across playspaces with bars, and one in Holland that allowed soft drugs in the 'cafe'.  For the most part, folks were extremely responsible and did their beer/wine/weed (in a country where it's legal) after play, while they were all mellowed out and relaxing
I've heard this to be true for other countries, and have always wondered why people are uptight here about this.   I wonder if we are a more addictvie society here as opposed to similar odds of becoming dependent on mind altering substances all over the world.
On the other hand, having known people who've run into difficulty with drugs and alcohol, I understand why some folks say "absolutely not."

I agree that it is indicative of using a crutch if one needs it in order to do it...  But I can have fun when with a fun submissive with or without 1-2 drinks on board.   I don't seek it, but if we are out to dinner, there will be wine or a cocktail, and yes there will likely be play later if this is my slave/boyfriend/lover.  The only time I will completely avoid alcohol (in my home or when out) is if I am out with someone who tells me he is in a 12 step program or something similar, and needs my support in staying sober.    M

No Drugs no alcohol before playing…you want to get soused afterwards you have my full permission if you aren’t driving…
I had an out of town boy drive FOUR hours and get his own hotel room only to show up all coked up at a party…it also became apparent that he was still getting high with the 95 trips he made to the car. We asked him to leave and never contacted him again.

If nothing else…he was a very inattentive submissive…you can’t serve if you are more worried about sneaking outside for your next fix.
