The computers have Rutgers solidly ahead of Penn State:

Based on the way Rutgers played Louisville and West Virginia, I believe it, too.

Funny that you neglected to factor in the way they played against Cincinatti, and the opinion of the computers didn't help them in that game either.

Well, Penn State didn't look too good in any of its four losses, either.  You have to judge a team based on the totality of its performance.  (Don't forget that FOUR of Penn State's eight wins were against jaw-droppingly crappy teams: Akron, Youngstown State, Illinois, and Temple.  I'm not even counting Northwestern or Michigan State, which are hardly powerhouses this year either.)

Anyway, I think Rutgers would beat Penn State this year on a neutral field, but we'll never know.

WVU, they like to burn furniture when they are victorious.  "We won, let's destroy some property!".  hehe

I was nice, not once did I call them hillbillies.  They give themselves a bad, tacky name.

And don't forget their cousins, the rug-burners.

To be honest, we see that kind of crap all across the country. Madison Wisconsin, Los Angeles, etc. It's just defective genes and excessive booze bursting out.

I think it's probably booze more than anything.  It's a party-group mentality.

You're right, though I really don't see you doing it. There's a big difference between Penn State losing all their games to teams ranked in the top 11 and having a combined 4 losses among them, and Rutgers losing even one game to a 5 loss team like Cincinnati.

Rutgers is a nice Cinderella story for the season, and they've got a good win against Louisville; however, in my view that gets negated by a lousy beating by Cincinnati. That leaves them with wins of similar quality to those by Penn State that you mock, and then conclude that Rutgers is "better". It makes no sense to me, though I suppose my judgment could get warped like that by a skirt who is a Rutgers fan.

This could be an endless discussion, because Rutgers and Penn State aren't going to play each other this year, and they have only one common opponent: Illinois, which is probably the worst team in the Big Ten.  Rutgers beat them 33-0, and Penn State beat them 26-12 (both at home).  Otherwise...there's not much basis for comparison.  Yes, Penn State lost to very good teams, but they got soundly beaten in those games, and didn't beat too many impressive teams themselves.  Probably their best win was 12-0 at Purdue.  Rutgers beat Louisville, South Florida, and Navy (34-0 at Navy), and nearly beat West Virginia.  I really think that's a better overall performance than what Penn State put in.

OSU quarterback Troy Smith wins Heisman

By RALPH D. RUSSO, AP Sports Writer1 hour, 25 minutes ago

Winning the Heisman Trophy was easy. The hard part for Troy Smith was staying composed.

To the surprise of no one, the Ohio State quarterback was the runaway winner of the award that honors college football's best player.

Seconds after his name was called Saturday night, he hugged everyone important in his life — coaches and family — let out a deep, deep sigh and headed for the podium.

"Normally, I'm pretty cool in pressure situations, but my heart is pounding so fast now," he said.

"I'm at a loss for words. I just can't believe this is happening. ... It means everything. Just to be here in this situation. I love everybody back home in Columbus."

Just two years after nearly derailing his career by taking money from a booster, Smith received 801 first-place votes and won the Heisman by 1,662 points — both the second-best marks in the 71-year history of the award.
Arkansas running back Darren McFadden (878) finished second, Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn (782) was third and West Virginia running back Steve Slaton (214) was fourth.

This one was a pretty clear decision.  Maybe Adrian Peterson could have competed if he had been healthy all year.

When are players going to learn to stay away, far away from boosters?

I agree about Peterson, Lam. And I was pleased to see McFadden get such recognition, he's a mauling runner with good speed, and is a heck of a passer, to boot lol.

Never, katy. Human nature rearing it's head, and all that.

Fast reply:

Interesting development over the past few days.  As more final regular-season computer rankings are starting to trickle in, there's a new consensus: Michigan is now ranked 2nd again!

Of course, that doesn't affect the BCS.

Of course not, common sense never factors in with the BCS
