Honey............how many healthy women do you know that would choose an amputee, cerebral palsy sufferer, or a SEVERELY physically handicapped man as a lover?

I know 26 year-old men that are virgins simply by merit of their social ineptitude alone, so I can't really imagine that the severely disabled are doing any better at the game of love.  Let's face the facts...............................healthy women don't want to fuck the handicapped unless "said" party is an individual of vast financial means.  I thank God everyday that I don't have anything wrong with me except for inveterate flakiness and a pack-a-day cigarette habit.

I've found that many women can distinguish between "social ineptitude" (being an asshole) and physical disabilities.  I've known two men with cerebral palsy and both have loving wives (one is a magnificent stunner).  When I was a member of TES, one of their founders occasionally attended meetings wearing walking sticks and with his charming wife.  Steven Hawking was recently in the news because of his divorce... but she married him in the first place.

Since the men I've known aren't rich, I suspect their attraction was their personalities, which were lively and upbeat.

Thankyou John Warren for stating that so well. It is a lil bit painful to be relegated to the non-viable side..

Seeksfem,

I think the issue of prostitutes being 'frail' is rather tricky.  I worked in a strip club for a few months during college.  The girls who worked there came in all shapes and sizes.  There was a gorgeous, shy coke head with a dealer boyfriend.  He regularly used her to pay his debts, either from the cash she made dancing, cash she made selling dope for him at the club (mostly to the other girls) or through 'favors.'  There was a single mother of two, trying to scrape together cash for rent and keep the car running.  There was a black girl who really didn't know how to do anything besides dance, turn tricks, and make babies.  One of the girls was married, and showed up once or twice a month just for the kick.  One was your basic crack-addict who still owes me fifty bucks.  There was enough emotional wreckage there to fill a dozen scrap heaps: it was a psychologist's money pile.

That doesn't stop the fact that the girls needed jobs, and most lacked in skills or education that could afford them a different life.  All of them were there of their free will, no chains keep them in the back room at night.  There's no law that says a woman must meet certain mental or emotional standards to work in the 'fantasy' trade.  It's just one more major gaping hole in humanity that has complicated sources, with even more complicated (or impossible) solutions.  If prostitution is legal, at least we'll have a better idea of how to manage it and keep those who engage in it alive.

I'm all for legalizing prostitution, but I don't agree with you that cerebral palsy, amputations, burns, etc. instantly qualify one as being "pitiful" and unable to find a sexual partner without paying for one.

Be well,
Julie

You have a very narrow-minded view of the world, my friend.  I agree that people that look different have a more difficult time in this world, but do not count them out.

1) The conditions you mention have varying degress of severity.  There are people around with cerebral palsy and amputations that go unnoticed because their conditions are mild or because of adaptive technology.
2)  Some people actually stay with their partners even after something bad happens to them.  Imagine that.  Love that lasts...
3)  Touch is a need, but it doesn't have to be the sexual touch of a prostitute.
4)  I don't know that stats, but I doubt there are a lot of severely handicapped people going to prostitutes.

So I say legalize prostitution in general.  It's not necessary to use the "handicapped" and "lonely" as justification, in my opinion.

Be well,
Julie

Well-said.

Your assumption is 102% correct..I am in favor of decriminalization of prostitution.

In the Netherlands it is actually legal with prostitution. As long as they have the papers they need and pay tax.

More importantly, in the Netherlands the prostitutes have mental and dental (euphemism for employer provided health care benefits), profit sharing, etc.

It is an actual career choice with a future doing a job you can do lying down, in dog style, on the washing machine, on your knees, whatever.
