A US federal judge has dismissed immigration charges against Cuban exile Luis Posada Carriles, a man convicted of blowing up a Cuban airliner in 1976.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6637481.stm

Sort of reminds me of the times American courts said Irish terrorists were political refugees.

I get the thrust of your post MC but reading between the lines of the report it seems that he "got off" on a technicality.
Maybe the details of his arrest or charge weren't handled correctly. Quite likely deliberately.

US double standards re. Irish "terrorists", in the past at any rate, were quite clear.

No, the US is deliberately protecting the terrorist Posada-Carillas, due to his past involvement with the CIA, and the fear of what would become public at any trial of his.

The funniest part is how they refuse to extridite him to Venezuela, who we HAVE AN EXTRADITION TREATY WITH, because it's believed he might be treated the way the US treats prisoners in THEIR custody.

The active protection of Posada-Carillas sorta helps you understand exactly why Bush hasn't after spending 600 Billion dollars, and casing the deaths of a half-million people STILL HASN'T BROUGHT BIN-LADIN TO JUSTICE.

If you *were* a CIA employee in the past, you get a pass for being a terrorist today.

Remarks by the President at the Signing of H.R. 4613, the Defense Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2005
Room 350, Dwight D. Eisenhower Executive Office Building. His remarks included the following:

Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we.

They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.

Brilliant! Fraudian slips tell us a lot of truth about what is going through someone's mind.

Yeh that has been around for a while.   It is this way with them all!  Not just bush.  Sometimes i cannot help but wonder if it is not done on purpose you know?

I cant imagine the pressure put on a president knowing he is part of the puppet government and in fear of his life if he tries to do anything about it.  Ever notice that they go in with brown hair and come out nearly white?

i cannot help but wonder if he does not say those things purposely to let people know.

I only pick on Meatcleaver when he is completely FOS, or presenting facts that are less than factual ... which mind you is about 90% of the time, but in this instance he is undoubtedly correct.

I also have to admit that I like to fire back sometimes just to see if some of these constant bashers can take it, as well as they dish it out. Meatcleaver actually gets high marks on this, in my book ... which is more (a lot more) that I can say for most of his fellow bashers.

They'd have been correct in 1921, but they were a good few years out of date with their assessment of the IRA.

What they were actually describing was a pack of gangsters running drugs and blowing up 8 years old kids in England.

Edited to add: mind you, Hamas and the PLO will be grateful for the training they received from the IRA which in turn means they'll be eternally grateful to those US citizens who funded IRA operations.
