I didn't mind being a housewife because caring for my children brought joy to my life but the fact that my husband didn't appreciate what I did and didn't consider it "work" made it difficult for me..

Well, since I am not exactly excited about it anymore I will dig for a few good things.

The pay is decent and the check never bounces.
I pretty much can do whatever I want as long as the work gets done.
No serious issues with any co-workers, we all get along fairly well.
I can carpool most days.
It is in a really great town.
There have been days that we have partied while working......the boss generally buys.
A 3 margarita, 2 hour lunch can be done.

oh wow ... this is easy

playing stern scary teacher with my "collegues" pulling faces at me through my classroom door
no two days are ever the same
god only knows what is going to fly at you next
getting a kid who is so disturbed they can hardly function in normal society to engage with a text written hundreds of years ago .. and seeing them finally connect .. knowing that someone somewhere has shared their headspace.
bollocking a kid for doing something really bad when actually you want to shake their hand and say "good work .. nicely done .. but use a little more superglue next time"
in my school .. the teachers are better at pretending to work than the kids
trying to teach stoned kids... possibly the most fun a teacher can have at work without breaking the law
being *allowed* to push in the lunch queue
the internal email system ... abused more by us than the lil'uns
summer holidays, christmas holidays, easter holidays, half term holidays, training days, finished by 3 pm, free periods, good pay, job security,

sighs ... my job is so great!

The fact that I just got a new one.  I started on the 30th working in Human Resources and I can say without a doubt, it's a world of difference from the other departments I've been in.  I got to go home and look myself in the mirror and say,"Today I made a difference, 9 people got hired and will have opportunities for growth within the company."  Just gives me the warm fuzzies...

I get to work outside alot. Sometimes it's mentally challenging. Sometimes it's physically challenging. Sometimes it's both, and that's when I really love it. Also, after the outside stuff is done, I get to do lots of writing at home. The cats help by laying on my maps and knocking my pens and pencils on the floor so I always know where to find them.

I work in a building with two art galleries and over twenty artists studios so I am surrounded by incrediable artwork of all varieties (paintings, sculptures, photos, pottery, etc.) and I am constantly meeting fascinating people.

The other great thing is that it is a family business (my co-workers are my mother, one of my sisters, my uncle, and two aunts - with two of my four nieces occasionally filling in too) so if I need time off, say for a dentist apointment, or to get my truck inspected, it's real easy to do so.

"Hey ma!  I'm going to the dentist.  I'll be back when I'm back!"

I am damn good at it
At work I am in my element, doing what I really like best, fixing things, surrounded by computers and people who get my jokes
I have made a few good aquaintences
my boss requires me to go to a titty-bar and play pool with him every payday :P (best pool in the state, and some of the cheapest beer)

my job allows me to serve and help others be more comfortable, the perfect fit for me.  another benefit is not doing anything repetitive and the pay is decent with benefits.

may we all find our bliss.

I get to tell people where to go and how to get there :)
I get to play online while at work.
I get to talk on the phone all night ... and get to deal with some sexy ass police officers :D

My job rules because-

I gets to choose what I do
I get to send all day with a baby then give her back!
I can walk by the river with nipper when she naps
it provides my accomadation and pays all my bills
pay is regular and on time
no team to annoy me, no co-workers, no staff under me to be baffled by
Everything!

things i like about my job:

1. it's not really a job, it's an nightly adventure with bands, gfs of bands, fans and groupies.

2. able to get into shows (or premieres/screenings) for free - most of the time bouncers and/or bands put me on VIP.

3. able to pick own work schedule and sometimes i don't have to cover the entire show

4. press badge gives me all access to backstage areas in certain venues

5. i can take my UMs to work with me sometimes (they LOVE that)

6. bands/managers/promoters send me home with loads of free stuff ...it's a good way to bribe me for a decent and fair review

7. get to hear all sorts of music from bluegrass/country to goth/industrial to pop/alternative

8. Lollapalooza and the afterparties
