I guess this is why speculation sucks and people should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. I need to remember this myself; just cuz a prosecutor sez they neglected the kid doesn't mean they did so. We can read all sorts of crap into the case...but we don't have all the facts; we're all just speculating. B

I personally don't see how watching your newborn infant waste away in front of your eyes and not seek advice or care could be viewed as anything other than neglect.

Pure vegan diets are great, especially if you don't mind dying of iron deficiency anemia due not only to getting too little iron but because fiber, phytates, and oxalates found in many plants inhibit iron absorption. The lack of amino acids can be ignored, because nobody needs them anyhow. The B-12 deficiency needs little consideration either, because the irreparable damage to the brain, spinal cord, eyes, and nerves will be less of a problem to people that don't have to hunt their food. Among the same lines, calcium deficiency is of little importance, because there is no need to go running after a gazelle on those fractured hips. Sure, children raised on a vegan diet will be smaller and more lethargic than their peers due to the decrease in calories, but isn't being beaten up by the primitive meat eaters worth it for the moral superiority they will feel?

ASlavesLife....lol....And popeye is correct...Regardless of whether they starved the child or not they named the lil' feller..."Crown Shakur"...Who would want to thrive knowing you are going to go through life with such a name?...It's obvious the kid died from embarassment.... Got a note back from my Congressman who supports a tremendously forward thinking approach to solving "The Vegan Question." All Vegans upon entering a Whole Foods or their local health store will be tagged and implanted with a transmitter So they can easily be rounded up in the dead of night to lessen annoying the masses with their removal.

To be successful on a vegan diet someone has to be extremely knowledgable about nutrition. On a side note...I can't imagine the havoc on that poor baby belly with them feeding him apple juice at that age.

But the soy milk containers in her apartment clearly state that soy milk is not to be used as a substitute for baby formula, her lawyer admitted. At trial, the mom said she also fed her son breast milk and soy milk formula.

More info backing up my "bummed out" theory. With a committed effort and enough money it is possible that we can cure B.O.B.S in this lifetime.

Wow, I've got to step back on this one, because if someone is determined to be stupid and small minded, all the scientific facts and proof in the world isn't gonna change that. So before I leave, I'll point out one more time what several people on here have already said. This child did'nt die of a 'vegan diet' this child died of horrible neglectful parents. Would have ended the same if they'd fed him only cows milk and apple juice.
