This is just another case that can be easily cleared up.... when in doubt, ask

And there ya go! No singing required!

well darn... I was rather looking forward to a campfire song, I got marshmellows & everything

(was making copies of what I'd be singing to hand out just in case y'all forgot the words)

lol I've said for years if I hear one more rendition of If I had a hammer, I'd have to hammer myself in the head, please leave that one out if possible.

I was at a lifestyle gathering having lots of fun talking with a group of people. Later in the evening one girl said to me "Wow, you're soooo much different than I thought you were." I said how so? "You're really funny, down to earth and easy to get along with. You're warm and friendly and not stuck up and well.....you're not a bitch". Rather shocked I looked at her and asked her where on earth she would have gotten those impressions, had we met before? She said no, but you were pretty hard on me on a thread on collarme and well...."I thought you didn't like me". She went on to say that she was really intimidated at the thought of meeting me.

Well in all honesty, I didn't remember what she was referring to. It had been awhile ago and when I got home I looked it up. I didn't see where I was particularly hard on her....I did disagree with her opinion on something though. There were also several threads that I found where I was in agreement with her.

Do you feel that because someone disagrees with you here on collarme that they "don't like you"? Do you think that if someone else's opinion is different it's a personal thing between you and they?

No...but I actually thought you hated me (and frankly, this was prior to any postings you'd made or any that you or I had responded to).

I am enjoying this thread.
There is a difference between disagreeing and becoming nasty.
Many people here think it is funny to belittle others and say nasty things.
It is almost like the good old boys club.
I enjoy seeing one of the good old boys getting an online bashing.
Often his online friends come to back him up.
So yes it gets personal on here and many people here I do not want to meet.

Exactly!

You only have to look at certain threads on here to see that when things get nasty the same heads pop up in succession and defend. A little gang forms and you can bet your life it’s the same people nearly every time.
The ones that do get nasty are so often the ones that feel they have a big enough following to protect them.
Like you, I wouldn’t give these people the time of day if I ever met them for real.
If someone called me a fucking whore on here or to my face, I just wouldn’t see the funny side.

no

I guess some people are just sensitive or perhaps insecure.  This place is all about sharing opinions, and if those opinions were the same then there's be no point to any of this.  But I still find myself forming preconceptions of people before I really get to know them: once I know them I realize, almost always, just how wrong my preconceptions can be.

Bingo, these posts are dead on.
I am enjoying all the new members that are joining and starting to post
on this side.
I enjoy the variety and I am seeing a lot of divergent thinkers.
So that means keep the posts coming, have I mentioned I love your picture?
I enjoy a healthy debate, but when it deteriorates into just plain mean and rude typing,
I try to take the high road and stop posting.
I really enjoy the Dom/sub tag team posters.
I think most rational people can see which poster is taking the "high road" and which posters
enjoy taking the "low road", and the low roaders speak for themself.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: I thought you didn't like me (5/13/2007 2:38:51 PM)

I've had it happen too often to me that someone tells me that they DO like me and respect me, only to turn around and talk about how uppity I am and how I suck (sometimes even within a single day) when they disagree with me that I really don't take much stock in ANYTHING a person says.  I appreciate when they say thanks or that they enjoy my posts, but it's really the long term consistency of that remark and respect over time which will matter to me.

And yes, I see it most often on the "support the novice" type threads- we get the whole "Why are you being mean to her?" thing when you're just trying to give her some real life advice that isn't pats on the head.

It's natural that you'll tend to like people who agree with you more than disagree- but basing liking someone on that particular aspect is very silly.

Humm late night confession time.
LA, when I first started posting here, I did not like you that much, lol.
After a few months that certainly changed, especially when I stopped taking
so many posts-personally.  Now even though I don't know you, I respect your views.
You always make and state your point, even if its not what most want to hear.
I don't see you playing favorites and agreeing with the regs, because they also have
been posting a long time.
I may not always agree with you, but I don't care about that.
You seem fair and consistent and thoughtful--I like that---now if only you would agree
with me more![;)]
