Ms Sonnet Marwood, maybe a whole room full of Dommes is more daunting than just meeting one. [:D]

I suspect its mostly to do with being self concious though.

I connected with someone online and flew to meet him. I had such a fantastic time I stayed for weeks. He has flown out to be with me also. That was 2 years ago and he is the person I mention in my profile. We will always be great friends.

On the other hand: I met someone here who is local. His voice on the phone was like liquid velvet. I expected to have great chemistry when we met in real time. Absolutely NO chemistry and a lot of wasted time.

One sub was sent to me by a respected Domme. He came over, and we had a great time. Although I would prefer to have someone 24/7 I am open to the friendships that can develop long-distance.

It's weeding thru the piles of mail that has me frustrated. I get really pissy when I discover someone is trying to bs me and wasting my time. Life is too short, too fleeting to waste.

The local munches I attended are almost 2 hrs away and most of the people at the munch lived in that area, which unless someone is willing to travel to me all of the time, well, it just wouldn't work.

I have made some great connections already here on this site. It's the real-time connections I crave!

I consider myself a conversation slut.  I will go through a lot to meet face to face with someone I consider interesting.  This is not just a D/s thing but translates to vanilla activities as well.

I have driven 250 miles to have dinner with an author whose work I enjoyed.
I have diverted business travel to spend a couple of hours with someone I met online and wanted to meet face to face.  In fact, this week I added 400 miles to my return from my last contract job in order to spend the day with someone I met here on CM.

Time is the stuff life is made of and the most precious gift you can give anyone.

My profile says I am able to relocate.  My work does not require me to be in any particular place.  It would take time to move my whole household somewhere but I certainly would for the right relationship.  Or, perhaps, someone will relocate to where I am currently maintaining a home.  Who knows what the future will bring.

In the meantime, if someone wants some interesting conversation over a favored beverage; I may be in the area at some time.

Those of us who are on the west coast are saying the very same thing.  But, MzMia, you should move to California to partake of the gorgeous weather, scenic beauty, and the high cost of  living.   For instance, gasoline is up to $3.38/gal., but it's probably just a high as in some other areas on the country.

Seriously, this is a great place to live, but only if you don't have to work in or near a large, metropolitan area.  Air pollution, overpopulation, catastrophic earth quakes, and the high cost of living are only a few things to cosider.

Most of my friends, the ones who grew up here, are now moving for Arizona, Oregon and Washington.

Yes, I'm obviously not working for the tourist bureau.

Laughing.. Funny enough, there is a submissive in California I think I could be quite interested in.. however, I'm in Toronto. I don't have the ability to travel and won't or several years so I never give a LDR a chance.

It seems pointless to me.

Love that song ;)

Thanks to everyone for their interesting replies and stories.

I admit that I expected a cancellation when my sub agreed to come see me, even with me paying. I had talked with several people in similar situations and for the most part, the guy always cancelled.

I was shocked when he called to say he was not only leaving the next day but his (get this!) parents were driving him from MO to NY. I was floored with laughter. "Wait, your parents are doing this? You're 25 years old!"  then the "Do they know what type of relationship we are working out?"  No... ah well this should be interesting. It was a riot.

I decided to keep him but made it clear his parents were not welcome in the relationship.[:D]
