ORIGINAL: mistoferin I forgot to answer your original question. I do have a friend who had silicone implants that had one rupture during play....actually from "rough squeezing" is the way she put it. She became very ill from the silicone. Just wanted to say it was almost for sure the ones that leaked were the old liquid type, as the new silicone gels really can't leak...even if were to be punctured by something (say with a knife or during a car accident, etc). I think if you keep in mind that even normal breasts should not be overly abused, which can cause internal structure damage, say by hard slapping, and use general common sense that you should not have a problem with the new durable silicone styles, especially using sub-muscular placement. However nerve damage just getting them in place can be a more significant problem as someone already mentioned and full sensation recovery may not happen, as with me...using arm pit method (just one side is partially numb). You might explore the various options on doing this which also varies by surgeron's perferences. Besides access through the armpit, under breast, through the areolae (nipple area) there is the higher-end new "no scar" method of going through the belly button.Using either silicone gels (pre-filled of course) verus saline (filled after placement), and size of implant may be major deciding factors on placement method. The modern silicone gels not only last longer, makes breasts a bit bigger, but likely will improve their shape and give a "lift" to them if they have started to sag, or are that way by nature. And that is besides improving one's overall figure and even making clothes look better, if one does not go too large of course. To reduce the risk of encapsulation most surgeons recommend textured ones, and to reduce the risk of shifting the "round" ones are generally preferred over anatomically shaped ones. Many tend to go for the "high profile" verus "normal" shape. Also doing your self massage as directed over the long haul also helps keep them flexable and more natural looking (as they move with your natural breasts). Regardless, plan on a lifespan of about 10 years before needing replacement for whatever reason, but the new styles may go a bit longer. One last thought is to choose your surgeon carefully, as even using the same implant and insertion method may have different results, and degree of nerve loss risks.
