And, IF you live with a submissive and you manage to dress up on a daily basis, my hat is off to you!
Especially those that live with their submissives, it is a lot easier to play dress up when you do not live 24/7.
We all know that when we are "dating" we go out of our way to look our best all the time, and honey that does
change when you live with someone.
For some strange reason, I can't think of many Dominant men that put on leather pants or dress up around the
house on a daily basis.
I don't see this as a right or wrong question, just curious and wondering if I am the only casual, laid back,
comfy cozy slippers Dominant woman around here?
My dream these days is to have floggers that match my slippers.

I agree with you that this "lifestyle" is not about costumes or other affectations of the sterotypical "mistress". It's about authenticity.

The appeal of a dominant Woman is that she does what she wants, when she wants and how she wants and she does not care in the least whether someone likes it or not. That strengh, that self-confidence and that carefree attitude is what draws the Submissive man to Her. It's as simple as that. :)

In the vanilla sense we still love each other when in casual wear or sruffs at home, so why would it be any different with a Domme? The Domme already has my admiration and love, otherwise I would not be there, its in the mind were the domination takes place and those reliant on looks are pure fantasisits.

Two Domme friends and I used to get together in what I called our "fashion statements"; flannel pajama pants and different print/patterned flannel shortie nitegowns. Then We'd sit at the little round table with a pint of Ben and Jerry's and a spoon.

I didnt have them then, but I have added to my "hi Fashion" wardrobe, 2 pairs of fuzzy slippers; one lavendar and one pink.

There certainly seems to be a consensus here about the value of comfort as far as the dominant woman is concerned.

I even buy expensive slippers when they are on sale.
Get some designer slippers.

LMAO - I think that my flannel pjs with the ice skating penguins on them are designer enough for me (and yes, I really do have them, and they are now 2 sizes too big ... and I still wear them because they are warm and fluffy and comfy

) I also have some pj bottoms that I got when I was working at Old Navy - Halloween print, and yes, I wear them year round.

My usual attire to. I do not believe I have ever owned boots or heels over 2 inches in retrospect. Male subs dont care what the female dom wears as long as she wears it for herself, and they view it unattractive when she appeases him with things she wouldnt actually like to be doing on her own.
I concur and feel strongly that the one influencial factor making a female dominant so special is her charm and self confidence and zest to do as she pleases. To some they may not be able to handle it due to intimidation or others who are envious of it becuase they lack the I don't care what you think self confidence but to those who enjoy that strong confident female dom, they jump at the chance to play in her playground. ~~

I love this thread!! For years I wore 3 to 5"heels every day because I loved them and having worn them so long my muscles and tendons shortened so nothing else was comfy. Now that I live in a rural area I cant wear them or would fall down the mountain lol.

I often tell those online that I sit around in a flannel corset and thigh highs in the winter. You would be amazed at how many think that Im telling the truth.!!!!

Im a lover of lingere so .. I love satiny silky stuff when Im relaxing ... BUT when its cold out the flannel comes out .. ( just not a flannel corset) LOL

A flannel corset?? You know that now I'm going to have to look into getting/making one of those LOL

I forgot though, I do have some slippers ... or at least I wear them as slippers. I have a pair of the most comfortable moccasins on the planet - all leather, including the sole which is nicely padded - made by Minnetonka if anyone is interested. I love these, despite the fact that Holly makes fun of them... I have a few pairs of them, actually - but I've worn holes in the soles of one pair from wearing them so much lol

I had a pair years ago, OMG, they were heavenly!
Actually, slippers, flip flops, moccasins, bare-foot, whatever you LOVE
and feel comfortable in, that is the way to go.

I can offer an analogy here, because I work in theatre and am also a submissive. I find theatre is the closest analogy you can get to BDSM.

In theatre you have costumes and you have props, and in BDSM you have costumes (leather trousers, corsets, thigh high boots) and props (floggers, whips, cuffs, rope, etc).

You don't need props and costumes to stage a play, and you don't need props and costumes to have a successful BDSM relationship. However some people think that you do, both in theatre and in BDSM.

I have come across a couple of Dommes in my experience who have wanted to 'dress up' to play and I seriously wonder about all those Dommes you see with profiles on Collarme in their corsets brandishing a riding crop. Each to their own I guess.

I have experience of Eastern European style BDSM, where it isn't the Domme who has to dress up, but the submissive.

I am in a relationship with a Domme, a casual Domme and she's my Domme no matter what she wears, how she looks or even how much she weighs. She doesn't need to dress up for me because she cannot dress up all the things I find so attractive about her - her mind, her heart, her personality and our relationship.
