Back to the original subject, I am constantly amazed by how fast time passes us by. My maternal Grandfather was born in "Indian Terriroty, Oklahoma" in the late 1800's, and I'm sure he knew civil war veterans as a young man. I marvel about this sort of thing all the time, about how we're interwoven into history, and just how soon we'll all be mere dust, possibly dug up and put on display somewhere. It does happen fast, and that's something that most people don't realize until they start getting older

Yep ... I'm nieve (and have been drinking SKYY Berry since noon).

What do you expect journalism student to say ... that they are doing this to make a shitload, be a minor celeb., and fuck hotter people than they could otherwise?

Every member of the military, joined to defend out way of life, as opposed to having fucked off in High School and not been able to get in to college.

Every person in law school is doing this to defend the downtrodden.

Every medical student want to help sick people ... that golf membership never once crossed their mind.

So ... I'm nieve, but at least I'm honest. I'm going to blow eight years of college, so I can start my teaching career at the college level and not subject myself to teaching little juvi-delinquints like I went to High School with. I'm going to be a teacher, because I want summers off and don't want to work eighty hours a week at some business, or have sick people hacking all over me. I want to be able to tell smart-ass kids like me, that they need to STFU and learn, or I will give them an bad grade and their parents will take their beer money.

The media tells the story they tell, for one reason. They want your dollars and will stop at nothing to get it. Sports-writer Limbaugh was a loser, but right-wing politico Limbaugh is rich, rich, rich, and can pay for that scrips habit. Nobody wants to hear nice things about Iraq ... that doesn't get Fargle's or Sinergy's money ... only talking about how fucked everything is, will pry that out of them. Oh and they want meatcleaver's money too ... so Euro media will blame every-fucking-thing-on-Earth on the angry, gun-toating, stupid uneducated Americans wth no passport of health insurance.

I like being nieve, and like being it at 21, so I can be shitfaced all summer.

Oookay for a moment there I thought I was in some sort of strange redux of the "Let's turn every thread into a political debate" thread. I'm confused now.

Oh regarding the OP. peewee...you are most certainly that old. Older really. In fact you're so old you're probably at the point of wondering whether you'll wake up the next morning when you go to bed at night. Sucks to be you eh??

On the other hand I'm still far younger than you because I wasn't even a gleam in my Daddy's eyes during the Kennedy Presidency.

Peewee is an extremely old man...and sometimes, late at night when the wind is still, I'm rather sure that I can hear the call of death beckoning to him but I can never be quite sure because it is always slightly drowned out from the screams of peewee yelling at the kids to get off of his lawn.

Ah Domiguy...I do adore you. Actually he doesn't yell at the kids he just sprays them with the hose. PS. Please don't capitalize peewee, i gives him a bit of a complex and confuses him.

Sanity/caitlyn it's naive...people come on! I can't believe that peewee here, the self proclaimed Deputy Sherriff of grammar and spelling here on CM completely missed that. Yep, you're old.

i sat next to a woman in a post-graduate class and made some reference to JFK's assaination.

She replied" O yea, my parents told me about that."

My reaction was not to feel old; i thought she was too dayum young to be taking courses that led to a professional degree. And this happened in 1988.

i will never be old; i will be well-traveled.

Were you ever lucky enough to hear any stories from your grandparents? My Grandpa used to tell me about picking cotton during the depression, catching twenty-foot-long sturgeon out of the Snake River using chickens for bait, meat hooks, and teams of horses to pull them out. I have pictures of sturgeon like that too, hanging over the end of long farm wagons. He used to tell me all kinds of stories, and it's too bad I never recorded them or wrote them down, because the things he saw and went through were amazing to me.

my dad picked cotton so i am familiar with that. By the way my dad still owns the farm even though he was a doctor. How about walking to school how many miles - it was for real though.
