ORIGINAL: kinkyviolet You don't have to be afraid of everything you eat. Just make sure it's cooked thoroughly (kills the bacteria) and keep a clean, sanitary kitchen (prevents the spread of bacteria). Of course, you can't control the sanitary conditions in a restaurant. That's what health inspectors are for. By the way, organic food products, as I understand it, are just produced without using artificial chemicals/fertilizers/feed/pesticides/preservatives/etc. Whether something is organic or not has little or nothing to do with what bacteria might be lurking in it. <<-vegetarian here I rarely and I do mean rarely eat ANY veggies that are not cooked. I stopped eating raw veggies, years ago. I am most comfortable when I can wash the veggies myself, I certainly eat very few raw food in restaurants. Every now and then I will take a chance on a salad. I just prefer my veggies COOKED. If in doubt, cook it! So even being a vegetarian, of course you must be careful!
