I've been considering dying my hair for a very long time, but I thought it'd be a stupid thing to do if it automatically makes me a little bit of an outcast, and I also wouldn't want to do anything that would cause dominant women to not give me a second glance...or give me a second glance in a bad way.

So, if a male sub dyed his hair an unnatural color, would you consider that a bad thing, or that they were trying to get attention?  Or would it be alright?  Thank you in advance for your replies.

My hair has been dyed a rainbow of colours - and not all of them were intentional!  But, to answer your question, I personally see someones hair as an extention of themselves. So, if it is multicoloured & vibrant, I figure they are creative individuals. If it's a nasty & odd colour (sea-weed green for example), I figure they are just experimenting (not a bad thing either, if it's carrying over into their sexual life ) or haven't a clue what they are doing/mixing (been there, have the pic to prove it).

In my opinion (which may or may not count for much as I'm not strictly a Domme), if someone is so shallow as to base their whole opinion of someone else solely on hair colour... well, there are many other Domme fish out in the sea... throw that one back and try again.

Unless, of course, you're dying your hair neon green with yellow, hot pink, and electric orange polka-dots. Then, I'm sorry to say, you need hairapy!!!

It would depend entirely on how well you wore it.  Not having seen a pic of you I could not give my opinion.  Some people look stunning in the slightly off beat and it adds to their character.  Others just look like they are trying to be cool and can not pull it off.

Well, at 21, I've already got the 'salt and pepper' thing starting to happen, and I've always thought that silver/light gray hair always looked nice, especially on people who...well...shouldn't have it yet.  I don't think I'll feel any different with it, but the other color I've always wanted was electric blue.  The sort of color that makes you wonder how many batteries it takes.  I've always loved blue, but I doubt I could keep my job (until I transfer to the flight line; once I'm a freight dog pilot, noone will care what I look like).

So, I'm leaning toward silver/gray or maybe white.  Also, I never have any facial hair, and I'm getting rid of all body hair before I do this; should the eyebrows be dyed to match, or left dark brown?  Personally, I think it'd look sort of tacky to have one hair color and another color for eyebrows, but I thought I'd ask your opinions...

Creativity is a good thing. Think of it this way- if she does not like your hair color, then it can be dyed again or shaved off ( hey, it grows back! ).

Considering your other post of not being able to find a good match due to your age, an outlandish color, like blue, might be another hinderence for you.  Just a thought.

When it comes to hair, I have one of the biggest fetishes going.  I've always had a thing about it.  I even give particular instructions for keeping it soft, conditioned, etc.  Keep the health of your hair in mind when you color it.  Going for something too outrageous might make it brittle and less pleasing.

You're a mind reader, lol.  These are exactly the things I had in mind when I posted this thread; I've pretty much decided the blue will never happen, though.  Are there ways to keep my hair soft, pleasing to run one's hands through?  A friend of mine bleached her hair, and it was very brittle and stiff.  My former Mistress also loved running her hands through my hair, so that's one thing that's always deterred me.

Thank you all for your replies thus far. *smiles*

Just to note...also make sure that once you do it...you know you have to keep it up or have it re-dyed to your natural color...fading color and grown out color almost universally look bad.

If you are doing it yourself it's also fun to bleach and dye the pubes if you are brave enough :)  It will almost always get you a little extra attention.

One other option is to use a temporary color that will wash out right afterwards. So, if you really want to try something outrageous like electric screaming blue you can. You can see the reaction (or non reaction) it's likely to get. It will also allow you to do so without having committed to a permanent change that will only do more damage than it's worth trying to go back to normal. If you're blonde I would highly suggest doing a test run on an unobtrusive spot before going all out with even temporary color.

This from the woman that temporarily colored her naturally very very blonde hair kelly green one St Patrick's Day. I sadly ended up with lime green hair for close to a month before the damage could be repaired. Ahhh the follies of youth!

Not EXACTLY an answer to your question..... but more comments on other reponses: If you want to see how incredible silver hair can look on a younger guy, then go find some pics of Dimitri Hovorostovsky (a russian baritone) - its practically a trade mark look of his since his 20's.. And for the hair "down there", then coincidently they were talking about this "Betty" hair dye on the TV yesterday.

I ain't no Domme, but I do like a bit of individuality about a person, so I'd say go for it. If it doesn't work then with a professional's help it can always be changed.

Good luck.

Depending on the Domme's personality she might not care much about hair color.  I know I dont. Obviously, if I am going to be taking someone somewhere formal, I'd expect them to look appropriately.  If you have bright orange hair and we are going somewhere fancy, Id get you spray color to cover it for the evening.  Easy fix.
IF someone is shalow enough not to want to give you a second look becasue your hair has been dyed, is that someone you realy want to be with?

Hi Einzelganger,

I haven’t read anyone else yet. So unbiased you shall get. *g* I do like hair dyed unnatural colors as long as it’s a color which works on the person. Some people just can’t pull off cretin colors is all. I really like cool colors (greens, blues, purples…) and I really think it’s sexy when hair is dyed just at the ends so it has a two-tone look. (You might not want to try (just) yellow since I might make you look sickly, depending on your skin tone and the shade of yellow.)

The other thing I wanted to mention make sure you get someone that knows how to dye hair if you do it permanent. That way it will look better, I have my highlights done (very natural) and no one can tell because of who I go to. You might also want to try these color combs to test out colors; they give a really deep color.

Do post what color you dyed your hair if you do it.

On aesthetics:
I think that very few people look good with hair dyed colors that could not conceivably have originated on their heads. Even fewer of those people are men. A few people look absolutely stunning with unnatural hair colors, generally because they choose colors that work with their existing skin tones and that harmonize with their looks. It's much easier to look good with hair in a naturally-occuring color, I think.

On superficial presentation and attraction:
The way a person looks can lead me to look a second time and to approach him or her. In other words, if I see you, say, at a munch, and I like the way you superficially present yourself (casual conversational skills, grooming, carriage) then I'm likely to take an active role in getting to know you better. This hardly seems inappropriate or wrong--I'm using the information I have about a person to make a decision about whether I want to put in any effort to learn more about that person. There are delightful people who don't present themselves well at first, and without an attractive initial presentation they need to take a more aggressive role in getting to know others.

On "natural" looks:
But reading one of your later messages it seems like you're leaning toward enhancing a quite natural tendency. That is, you're developing grey hair so that you have a salt-and-pepper or ashy look, and you want to make your hair grey all over. That's a perfectly fine and natural look, and often an elegant thing to do once you're upward of 50% grey. It's worth mentioning that it's often necessary to find a skilled colorist to blend grey tones well.

On self-expression:
you need to determine the kind of person you want to present yourself to be, and the kind of person you want to attract. If you have a thing for a slightly alternative, punky edge, both in yourself and in your prospective partners, you'll probably be fine with the electric blue that you entertained. I'm not crazy about punk/goth/emo/alternative cultures, nor the looks that go with them, so expressing that form of self isn't a way to make *me* approach you from looking at you. But that doesn't mean there aren't dominant women who wouldn't regard blue hair as an aphrodisiac.

I'm absolutely certain the blue isn't going to happen.  As a professional violinist, I imagine if I showed up to a gig with electric blue hair, that would go over like a fart in a two-man submarine.

The grey, on the other hand...I'm really leaning toward it now.  And my original hair color is a very dark brown.

Ok, one of our pilots had that Tom Cruise movie, Collateral, playing on his portable DVD player, and the way Tom Cruise's hair looks in that movie is exactly what I had in mind, if that helps the visual.  I'm just not as good looking as Tom Cruise. *smiles*

*smiles*  Thanks, moki1984.  I've thought about it some more over the weekend...and resisted the temptation to pull out some more gray hairs...and decided I'll just do it.  My boss is cool with it, so since I won't lose my job, I'll start looking for some information tonight.  Thanks again to you all for helping me make this decision. *smiles*
