Swimming is excellent exercise since you have a pool available. It gives a cardio workout as well as improving pretty much every muscle group in your body. The key to it is getting and keeping your heart rate at a target level, ie, not stopping at the end of the pool every length or lap, and keeping up the intensity. You can also get a variety of equipment pretty cheaply to keep it interesting, ie, kickboards, hand paddles, waterproof radios/radio covers, etc etc. Another fun way to keep it interesting is to invest in a waterproof watch and try to beat your own times, there are also a lot of different drills. I'd be happy to talk to you more about it, just give me a shout if you're interested, I coached a team for about 4 years...

this bears repeating...

back in the days when the birth control pill first hit the market, i gained over 100 lbs by taking it. when i stopped taking the pill i stopped gaining weight, but losing it was next to impossible because i had gotten so fat so fast that most exercise programs wouldn't work for me without causing other irrepairable damage, and this coming from someone who was in competitive sports all their life...

so i crawled my fat and boyant ass into the pool and started lap swimming, using a kickboard and fins, and within three months, and with no change to my diet, i lost that 100 lbs., as well as shaped and toned my body all at the same time.

Every time I see your avatar, I want to stand up and either salute or burst into song!  I haven't lost that much weight but I've certainly turned some fat into muscle mass and, like so many others on this thread, I feel great!  Clothes fit better and I look better.  I think no matter what diet plan the OP chooses, she's GOT to add exercise.  Yes, it's hard, especially with those kinds of hours, but find 10 minutes chunks during the day and do some isometrics.

I think you're doing great, bandit; I'm very proud of ya!

my master wanted me to shed a few lbs due to the fact i had baby weight form my pregnancy 4 months ago...i simly stopped drinking caffeine, only one diet soda a day IF THAT......i dont drink a lot of fruit juices (packed in sugar) i drink lots of water..take a multivitamin and a hydroxycut pill...30 min. of cardio or if you cant do that for some reason at elast fit in some simple exercises like crunch's, leg lifts, etc.........and i have lost about 12 lbs in 2 wks. one BIG factor......portion size. im sorry but if you go to some fast food joint which you shouldnt be anyways..you dont need a burger, fries and a coke....just a burger and a diet coke is enough .....of course if you get the burger and diet coke that does you NO GOOD. i get the salads now and a bottle of water. your diet is so imorant...and i see so many ppl complaining they cant lose weight yet they eat shit....stay away from sugar, tons of carbs. just eat light

i think the easiest way to lose weight is to simply eat healthy and watch your portions. if youre one of those people(like me) who doenst get full very fast, i recomend drinking a few glasses of water before and during your meal. you'll be very surprised to feel how full you are, even though you havent eaten so much. tea also works pretty well, since its pretty low on calories, but watch out for the caffine. suppliment a healthy diet with some cardio(walking around the block 2 times should do just fine) and maybe lifting a few small weights or doing some other muscle building excersize and you will start to see major improvement in your body. the best work outs are the ones that use your own body weight. sit ups, crunches, push ups, leg lifts, etc. and some good, frequent cardio will burn up body fat fairly quickly.

i think what most people dont realize, is that it doesnt matter WHAT you eat, but how much of it you eat(also the nutritional value, but i dont think anyone would assume a hamburger is as good for you as say...some roasted chicken with a side of greens). you can eat 20 oranges, and though its true that oranges are great for you, 20 of anything will make you gain weight.

good luck to you hun!

Congrats and kudos to you!!

Thank you.

I have considered starting a thread ....somewhere here... as a venue to "support" (I know, a bad word) one another in weight adjustment issues. (I am thinking something similar to the Gor girl support thread.) A place to discuss successes and challenges...with no flaming from those that are comfortable with the current status of their bodies.

Yes, I know this is covered on all those other sites. But, there are some kink issues related to weight that I just can't forum about on vanilla sites.

I am so impressed that this thread has not been degenerative.

best!

lol why not do it.  It is great to find a thread that is supportive rather than destructive.

For myself, I am on the Atkins for two weeks, followed by the South Beach diet.  I have to be very careful about monitoring the carbs because that is my weakness.  I also no longer drink diet colas because I did that excessively and that it not good for the digestion.  I am also trying to work out on the treadmill for 30 minutes for 4-5 days a week.

I even went to Red Lobster Saturday, and ordered the fish without the potato and incorporated broccoli, carrots, and yellow squash.  It took a lot of willpower for me not to eat any of those cheese garlic biscuits but I felt good leaving the restaurant because I was full but not bloated.

i wanted to start working out for myself and hopefully loose weight but more so for health reasons.  Master gave me the motivation to do so by telling me every time i work out for 20minutes or longer i was allowed to orgasm that day w/o having to beg Him for this.  perhaps this is not for you but basically saying find what motivation works best for you and perhaps your Master can allow you this 'treat' for working out or for loosing x amt (say at 5lb incriments)  sometimes it helps to have those motivations when you are totally not in the mood!!

also write down for certain incriments what 'treat' you would like... manicure, pedicure, new perfume.. something you really want and that is for you completely!!

best of luck to you!!  and congrats on making this decision .. it really is a big step just making saying that you are starting..

I dont know why everyone thinks they need to pay for diets these days I mean seriously what did people do before the internet and tv fifty years ago.

Salads, plenty of fruits and vegtables, chicken, turkey and fish......fat free dressings for foods.

Thirty minuets of excercise total every other day when you take a break at work, instead of running for more coffee or a soda, take a brisk walk, and grab WATER on your way back to your office.

Soda is the worst thing you can drink if you want to diet.  I am a pepsi adict but I'm sitting here right now with a coffee mug full of Ice water.

I do drink coffee in the morning and yeah I cheat a bit with creamer and sugar but the rest of my diet and structure is stable and done appropriately daily.  I will alow myself a glass of soda every night with dinner but no more than that.

Good luck to you

Many of the plans, including South Beach, are free except for the $14.99 for the book.  That's one thing that is so nice about the internet, free info and support boards.

Dressings made with "good fats" (no saturated or trans) actually allow you to absorb more of the  vitamins in your greens and help keep your blood sugar even by slowing digestion. Many fat-free dressings have added sugar, so be careful of those.

Hello :) One of the most basic thing I was taught by my physician (and the one thing that saved me) is that one pound of fat equals 3500 calories.  You can find (on fitday or other sites) roughly how many calories you need to take in per day based on your age, gender, height, and weight to maintain your current weight.  If you're willing to count calories (which is not as tough as it seems) then decrease your calorie intake by an amount that will be conducive to actually losing fat rather than maintaining or gaining. The bottom line (in my experience) is that it doesn't really matter too much how you get those calories - just make sure that you take in less than you need to maintain per day but do not go below 1000 as for most people, anything below that will put your metabolism into starvation mode and it will try harder to store what you eat.  It is better not to eat at least 4 hours before bed and also to eat soon after waking up to get your metabolism up and running.   Eliminating soda is a big help if you drink it.  One 16.9 oz bottle of soda has about 300 calories.  I know folks who drink 5 bottles of soda per day.  That is 1500 calories just in soda alone and that is a LOT.  Try water or water that is flavored with Crystal Light or some other sugar free drink mix and drink LOTS of it throughout the day.  Diet soda every once in awhile is okay. :) If you use common sense, count calories, stay active, and eliminate soda and a majority of the fast food out there you can do wonders. In the last 10 months I've lost nearly 100 lbs and while it hasn't always been easy, I have found that counting calories and choosing healthful foods has been the simplest and most successful thing I've ever done diet-wise.  It is an entire change of life and habits and while I still have a long way to go, I feel empowered and confident that I will eventually reach my goal. An easy rule when grocery shopping is to shop the perimeter of the store.  Most processed foods are in the aisles.  The meats, produce, and dairy are usually around the perimeter of the grocery store so by sticking mostly to those areas and cooking fresh foods, you can avoid the more addictive, calorie laden items found in the aisles.  Also I genuinely believe that organic foods are better for you so choosing those over others is a good idea. Taking-it-off dot com is a site for submissives who are trying to lose weight.  I would recommend that as well for help and support. Good luck to you and well wishes, Cav's ally

Take in less calories than you burn off.  Don't become obsessed with this.  EXERCISE...both strength training and cardio.  You will take the weight off, build muscle and feel great!

This doesn't work for everyone. You need to actually construct a diet that works with your metabolism and hormonal pattern. I can do less calories and excercise every day, and I won't lose a pound.

I have insulin resistance brought on by PCOS. What the American Heart Association calls a healthy diet would actually cause me to gain weight.

I would suggest going to the doctor before starting a diet and getting a blood panel done. Testing for PCOS, Insulin Resistance and thyroid issues. Not doing that could just lead to a path of frustration.

I have added 20ish lbs since i met my Master/husband and he has gained 65.  Granted part of mine are from the kiddies.  I had myself down to 134lb but got really hungry the last couple of weeks and put 10ish back on.  I have now become  totally disgusted w. myself and have been trying to cut back and exercise.  The problem i've run into is that I'm starving by lunch and then again by dinner.  Master and I have been walking after work.

Hoping that one day I can lose some of this weight.

You are probably starving becasue your blood sugar has dropped.  If you eat a snack with low fat protein every 2-3 hours you can prevent that.

Even better, you can get the book for 99 cents on ebay or free at www.paperbackexchange.com. And I dont know anyone who's had success with South Beach who isnt quite willing to share the basics and tips with anyone who asks.

Yup, I love South Beach. It works with my PCOS, doesn't leave me hungry, and is actually quite easy to follow. Plus, it's easily adaptable for Master as well.
