IMO weight watchers is the easiest to follow and allows you to lose safely.  It also teaches you moderations and portion control in the process.  So you can have your cake slice and eat it too.

Hi not a submissive (switch) but I have used fitday.com (I think that’s the right address) and I have another messageboard if you want the addie just shoot me an e-mail. I’m working on the weight lost thing also, just go slow and remember to eat healthy you’re making a long term change.  It's taken me about a year to lose and keep off 20lbs. Good luck.

I have heard that weight watchers is the most sensible weight loss program and, instead of focusing on quick weight loss, teaches how a person should eat for the rest of their lives.

i am doing atkins and have lost 30 pounds in 3 months
http://www.lowcarbfriends.com has been a huge help for me.
that and Master having me email Him my weight and what i ate each day

astarri -> RE: weight loss (5/19/2007 9:10:51 AM)

you must be very careful when following a high protein diet. My sister lost a small back street boy off her rear end... my girlfried developed serious kidney complications. It does work but sometimes it may cost more than the benefits

Shaunna415 -> RE: weight loss (5/19/2007 9:16:38 AM)

Hey there and First off let me say good luck to you in whatever program you choose. On feb. 1st I started the Atkins diet and since then have dropped about 45 lbs. NOW heres the thing, I have also been making sure I get to my doctor to check all my stats and what have you. You do have to be very careful in following a high protein diet and make sure you do get your veggies as well as excercise. I work 6 days a week running a business and usually 12-14 hours a day at leats 5 of those days. I make sure to take time out to walk when I get home when i can (usually about 5-6 miles) or do what excercise I can in the house. And keep an eye on that cholesterol too. GOOD LUCK  to you darlin

Although I'm not a submissive sister,, I wanted to add to this if I may - About a year ago, I weighed 248 lbs and was a size 42 in the waist.  I remember sitting at the airport, awaiting my flight after having just spent an incredible week with my then/sweetheart.  (Six months prior she'd said to me .. "I wish you took better care of yourself - I don't want to see anything happen to you")  And it just hit me:  "I have to do something about this."

Sure, 6' 1" is enough to carry this, but it's still not right.    So the first thing I did was become CONSCIOUS of the problem.  It was huge in overcoming.

By boss had been reading the South Beach book, and I also spend a great time in the kitchen so I at least got the concept of the three phases of the diet and what they were designed to do.

I immediately cut out all bread and fruit at breakfast.  No biscuits, toast (not even whole wheat), muffins, waffles, english muffins... OR butter.  For the first month ONLY had Special K and 2% milk for breakfast - for a mid-morning snack:  either cheese or about 20 oven roasted peanuts in the shell...and then either soups or salads or meat/cheese roll-ups for lunch and dinner.  (no croutons on the salad, thank you)

I never ate past 6 in the evening and at Least four days a week I'd get out and walk for an hour in the evenings...  took in about three miles..

In the first month, I lost 15 lbs.. by the end of the third month I lost 35 lbs... and was down to a size 36 in the waist.

I think the key was to get out and Hoof It..   We have a treadmill, but it's just not the same.

It's been a year now ...I am still 35 lbs down and still 36 in the waist..... and I just paid about 200.00 to a local tailor to take in all my suit pants...  I sleep longer and better.. I can run from my car to the grocery store and not get winded.....  It just feels better all the way around.

good luck to you!
PH

Atkins does not have to be "high protein", and unless someone allready has kidney problems, the diet isn't likely to cause any.

My mom bought this weight watchers cereal it's a fiber flake and rice cereal and damn if that wasn't the most fucking nastiest blandest shit I have ever ate lol. Out of some misguided sense of not wanting to waste food I ate a bit of it an gave the rest to my dog lol.

I am on South Beach and I have lost about 15 to 20 lbs on it. I want to lose 15 more before July 4th because my Daddy is throwing a fireworks party. One can lose weight on South Beach without exercise.

Edited to add, I weigh about what I do in my pic right now.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: weight loss (5/19/2007 9:42:30 AM)

First thing I would suggest is speaking to your doctor about any diets you decide to follow. Having them monitor you helps, and then you canmake sure nothing you are doing is adversely affecting anything inadvertantly. My mother had no idea she had kidney problems until she started a protien diet, so monitoring is a very good idea.
Personally, I have been on weight watchers and it was fantastic. I did not keep up with it becasue I did not have the money, but if you actually follow the lessons they teach, it works wonders and quickly.
My younger brother has been doing Nutrisystem. He does not have a lot of time, being a dealer in a casino, and the prepackaged meals actualy work wel for busy people who tend to bring their food with them to work and such anyway. He lost 60 lbs in about 6 months and his doctor is very happy with his progress. Nutrisystem was the only diet tat ever worked for him, and now that he has lost a good bit of the weight he has to, he is going to be learning to eat properly to keep it off.

Short term, cut out snacking at work. Thats where you hit the most problems. Drink a lot of water, and make the water interesting with various no cal mixes that flavor it (weight watchers suggestion). Variety makes that part easier, and I have a list of the additives I have used.

Good luck, it is a hard process at first, but it is so incredibly worth the work.
and DO NOT wiegh yourself constantly. Seeing no change makes it frusterating.  Wait a few days in between weigh ins at the very least. When you see results, thats when you can stay encouraged.

DV
(65 lbs less of DV than when I started this site, mind you)

Take in less calories than you burn off.  Don't become obsessed with this.  EXERCISE...both strength training and cardio.  You will take the weight off, build muscle and feel great!

Toshi -> RE: weight loss (5/19/2007 9:53:48 AM)

Here is the best diet in the world, all others are worthless! It is as follows ... common sense and exercise, be sure to manage 30 mins of cardiovascular exercise per day (brisk walking is just fine), pay attention to the guidelined daily amount, for all components required and stick as close to them as possible, keep particular eye on your sodium intake, and steer away from foods high in saturated fats and hydrated fats, and eat organic, as as far as I am concerned pestisides are more likely to cause cancer than smoking is.

More important than anything else, are two things ... self dicipline and will power. If you lack either of these, then GET some, as you don't have a hope in hell without them.

Hello little miss 4 paddles [;)]

Exercise is indeed good; cardio for your heart and lungs, weight training for your muscles and metabolism.

Avoid trans-fats, partially-dehydragenated anything, sugar, and excess carbs like the plague.

Eat your veggies. Don't like veggies? Put cheese, butter, and sugar-free dressings on them, and you likely will love them.

Olive oil and fish oils are your friends.

Frankenfoods are the devil, or at least the devil's cousin.

I just started weight watchers 3 days ago.  I'm really impressed by it.  I don't feel hungry and I feel like I'm eating better in terms of fruits and vegetables.  It's almost like if I don't loose weight, at least I'm putting better things into my body.  I tried a low carb diet, but I just wasn't happy on it.  I'd say do a lot of reading and then figure out which one fits your lifestyle the best.  I wish you luck!

No one diet fits everyone, well said, Shelly.
