I would slap a 40% tarriff on Chinese goods (the amount their currency is undervalued) yank off most favored nation status and subsidize American industries that can compete with the revenue and sign trade agreements with China's competitors to buy subsitute goods from them.  Of course that would take someone who wasn't all hat.

Status: offline 		Unforunately it is too late for drastic action. China holds far too many dollars. If they were to suddenly unload them onto the world market the dollar's value would crash.

We need to wean ourselves off Chinese goods while ending deficit budgets and priority should be given to redeeming Chinese held bonds and other financial instruments.

That is absolutely correct. But then, the value of all the dollars they hold would crash along with ours. And they would lose their biggest market to sell their wares to.

Well, as I've said several times on these boards, no one can lick us militarily. The only way to bring us to our knees is to crumble our monetary system.

Could the Chinese do it if they wanted to? Probably. But the way I see things, this would be poor timing for such an act. Wouldn't it better for them to wait until they've developed a sufficient domestic market to replace the loss of ours?  

Exactly what would they gain by tanking our economy and theirs at the same time? 

But I agree that we should balance our national budget. We should also eliminate our debt-based monetary system entirely.

The United States pays 7.5 billion dollars day in interest payments on loans we took out with the Chinese in order to fund, among other things, the fiasco in Iraq.

It is not just unloading dollars onto the world market, it is calling in loans as well.

AnencephalyBoy can do nothing but grab his ankles and try to enjoy the experience.

Weird, I remember saying this would happen in 2001.

What could he do?  Cheney pissed them off on his recent world tour.

We've transferred all our tech to them, through sending manufacturing there or our politicians selling it to them(like that Multiple warhead tech and better rocket tech that went there under Clinton). They got our P3 Orion spy tech under Bush. One of their subs surfaced within striking range of one of our aircraft carriers-undetected.

They outnumber us by a 4 or 5 to one. They have easy and free access to our entire country unchecked, thanks to the greed of our free trade politicians. They could load our country up with soldiers and even manufacture military equipment in our country if they wanted to. They can bring in as many infiltration troops as they desire. We also have an open border. They can bring any thing they desire in.

As long as we have this terrorist thing going on, any enemy can set off nukes or use bio weapons on us and it would be blamed on Al Quida.

I feel like the Chinese can do any offense they desire to us and our politicians will bend right over.

The Chinese also control the Panama Canal(Thank you Jimmy Carter). So they have numerous bases in our Hemisphere. They have Shipping places right off our coasts because of the huge amount of manufacturing they do(We don't manufacture anything anymore except hamburgers!).

The Chinese dont want to fight the United States.  It would be a horrible war for both sides with hundreds of thousands of deaths.  While the Chinese have much of our technology, they really lack an offensive set of missiles designed to attack the US.  Most of their weapons are designed to be used against Russia.

But more importantly, they take our trash and sell it back to us.  This is their path to world supremacy.  Only a complete idiot attacks a country they can get whatever they want from without fighting.

They will embarass AnencephalyBoy, but they are smart enough to know that the last thing they want to do is kill the goose (the United States) that lays the Golden Egg (Walmart, et al)

Status: offline 		The arabs have proven over and over again numbers and technology are no match for dedicated and well trained troops.  China's military isn't ready to take Taiwan so lets get serious.  Their plan is to destroy our economy and Bush is working as hard as he can to help them out.

I despised Clinton for opening the doors to China but in the long run I think it was a good idea.  They have been largely brought into the modern world, however, we need to slow their expansion down and make them work a bit harder for it.  Allowing them to keep their currency low is fucking our economy but Bush needs that to happen to finance his buddies raping of the US treasury so it doesn't bother him at all. 

Pretty much sounds like treason to me although thank god he hasn't done anything really horrible or destructive like get a blow job, that would REALLY be something we would have to get outraged about.
