As long as they don't mind me vomiting on them, I don't mind if they smoke.

Simple .  I 've always seen smoking as no different from any other addiction .  And I would not date an addict .   Aside from me finding smoking to be so terribly unsexy ,  foul ,  and in fact - the direct cause of some very unpleasant and fatal diseases  !

Hello Squeakers.  :) When I first met my owner I smoked about 2 packs a day.  At that point I had been smoking for about 16 or 17 years.  As our relationship progressed, he let me know that he disliked that very much as he had concerns for my health.  When he decided that I would move in with him he told me that I would quit smoking.  The night he flew in to pick me up and move me to his home was the night he said I would I quit and so I did.  That was 8 years ago.   After more than 6 years he eventually allowed me to smoke occasionally/socially but only with permission and only in very small amounts. He has no desire to see me dependent on nicotine again. I am grateful that he saved me in that way.  His decision was what was best for me. Well wishes, Cav's ally

This is funny! I quit smoking for six month and restarted but have recently quit again. Hard habit to break but since I want it ...it makes it easier to say yes I would quit in a heart beat for someone. *bursts into irrational tears

I am a smoker but because of personal choice i dont smoke in my own house and i dont like people smoking in my house, if someone i like does not like it, i think its for that person to either deal with it or not, i gave up for two and a half years and put on a ton of weight getting to the point i figgered i would end up dieing of a heart attack, a lot sooner than i would if i smoked.
I figger i will live longer being a smoker than i would without it by eating, no i dont have will power i can not stop smoking and not increase the eating.

Ennaozzie,
You are just pretending to think that, right? You seem like a reasonably intelligent person, so I am going to assume you are joking with us..

When I graduated  college in 1990.  I  came home to help my siblings take care of my mother  who had been diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer several years earlier.  It was deemed inoperable because her lungs were not strong enough to withstand anaesthesia after about 40 years of smoking. She was now in the advanced stages of the disease.
She spent her last 6 months at home.  We had a hospital bed and whatever other medical equipment she needed at home.  I won't bother going into the horrible details of the chemo and radiation.  Nor will I go into detail about taking care of her hygiene and changing her diapers (she was only 58 by the way).
What I will tell you is that she never, ever stopped smoking.

I have to tell you, it's not fun being awakened at 2am because yor mother needs you to light her cigarette and is incapable of working the lighter.  I yelled at her for it and never got to tell her I was sorry.
My mother smoked until 2 days before she died, the only reason she stopped then was because she had slipped into a semi comatose state.  It became a death watch.
I watched her take her last breath.  She inhaled and simply never exhaled.  I can remember it as clearly as if it happened an hour ago, the tumors visible and bumpy under the skin on her neck.
It was so surreal.

I had to get over alot of guilt and anger towards my mother for dying.  Guilt for yelling at her for waking me at 2am and anger for leaving us. I felt like she chose cigarettes over her family.  I am the youngest of 5 children.  Because she chose to smoke, she never saw me get married, couldn't be with me during mine (or my sister's) pregnancies or the birth of her 5th, 6th and 7th grandkids (the 5th being my niece).
Before I get alot of posts about how this is such a tough addiction, she didn't choose cigarettes over us,  I don't understand, yada yada yada.  Let me explain that on May 3, 1993, the day I stopped smoking after 12 years, I was up to two packs a day.  (Note that this was 2 years after my mom died).

My mom was one tough broad.  At 16 she survived an attack in the NY subway where her assailant cracked a hole in the top of her skull with a hammer.
As an adult, her first husband died in an Eastern Airlines plane crash and left her widowed with 3 boys under the age of 6.
15 years later, she overcame a decade of heavy alcoholism and prescription drug addiction through AA and really, really worked the program.  This is why I feel had she really ever decided
to quit, she would have done so with the same tenacity she had in overcoming all the other negative things in her life.
Hmm.. Maybe I am still a bit angry? (Sorry Mom.  I'm trying).

So here I am.  40 years old, some say devoid of emotion,  (those who know me know I almost never cry) and as I sit here in tears all I really, truly long for is to have my Mom stroke my head and softly sing "Unforgettable"  to me, the way she used to.

I apologize to everyone for the exceedingly long post, but please Ennaozzie,  remember my story next time you light a cigarette and rationalize that it's a better alternative than having to diet and exercise.  I can vouch that it isn't.

Be well,
BSB

greetings squeakers,

He was a cigarette smoker when we first got together. i smoke shisha rarely (maybe once a month or so, and only in bars), and cloves VERY rarely (only when i'm with a friend, and even then i will bathe/wash out my clothes quickly and only smoke outside). i grew up with parents who smoked upwards of 3 packs a day (each), indoors, in the car, around me pretty much all the time, and it's wreaked havoc on my sinuses and such. i'm much better now that i don't live at home anymore, and now when i am around smoke for too long it tends to make my migraines more frequent, so that would be a trouble if He started smoking again (He quit about 5 mos after we got together). however, i wouldn't leave Him if He started smoking again, by any means...and it's something He's talked about. i would quit smoking if He (or, if i were ever to be owned by anyone else) required it of me, but that's not in His nature. i personally prefer to be around nonsmokers and i would be more likely to date a nonsmoker, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

greetings bossyshoebitch,

*big hugs* to you. my mother died at 53 (after 40 yrs of smoking) from an aneurysm, but we always assumed the smoking would kill her some time before she turned 55. i remember many hospital stays having to wheel her out for a smoke, or many nights being woken up because she'd fallen asleep and dropped a cigarette. i just wanted to let you know my heart is with you, because i know what it's like to lose a parent (actually, to lose both), and to live with one who is so attached to their pack of cigarettes that it's almost impossible to watch or handle. actually, these days, sometimes i just pray for another chance to light a cigarette for her, if i could have her back long enough for her to smoke one. but it's a terrible, terrible thing. my thoughts are with you and your family.

BSB,

I am sure your mother still sings Unforgettable for you somewhere and perhaps will send you someone to stroke your hair in her place.  I would bet she forgave you for yelling at her long ago and that she is very very proud of you and yours.

Yes I am intelligent and I still make mistakes, and I was a total dipstick when I was a teenager, and started smoking, I am far from perfect but then I never claimed to be.

When master and I were chatting I found out he smoked, I told him I really didn't like the smell, it made me sick and would he consider quitting. He came, I offered him patches on my knees. He wore then for about 3 days, didn't quit. I accepted it.

I have asked this question in chat rooms and I am always sort of surprised at the answers I get.   You have met the perfect Dom(me).   Everything about him/her is near perfect except you are a smoker and he/she can not tolerate it and won't tolerate it, do you give the butts the old heave ho or pass on this Dom(me) and wait for one who smokes.   Or on the flip side, the Dom(me) is a smoker and you as the submissive can not stand it, would you deal with it or move on?
Just a FYI, I am a former smoker.
I've passed on a few smokers and I've given a chance to a few smokers. For me, it's not about their activity, it's about the person I see them to be. Those that I had given a chance to had restrictions though. No smoking around me regardless of where we were and no smoking in my house were big ones.

I quit because he did not smoke. He would not take me into service unless I quit. For me it was a no-brainer.

KatyLied,
I suspect this isn't what the thread is about. I believe she is trying to rationalize her smoking habit by illustrating that the alternative (gaining weight) is just as dangerous. This way she validates her decision to keep smoking.

You gave up for 2 1/2 years and went back to it? Holy crap! Was it because you thought that was the only way to lose the weight you had gained?

What did you do for yourself healthwise during the time you stopped smoking?
How many packs had you been smoking?

I watched my mother have multiple heart attacks & strokes from her smoking before she finally quit.  My father smoked for decades, first a pipe, then cigars, then cigarettes and then he quit.  (He quit long before my mother did, and he tormented her about her continued addiction.)
As a result of their smoking I had chronic Bronchitis and missed school every winter sitting in the hospital waiting for the second hand toxins to work their way out of my system so I could go back home to it.
I wouldn't want anyone smoking around me or my cats, and I would hope anyone interesting enough for me to care about would choose not to damage their own health that way.

My ex Mistress smoked when i met her. i never smoked, hate the smell, can't stand smoke. But. i accepted her smoking. She would mostly smoke outside except during sessions when she would use me as her ashtray. However, i would pass on a Domme that smokes now. Can't handle it.
