My favorite author is John Irving.  But in order to enjoy him you have to go into his books understanding that many of his characters are dysfunctional.

I didn't see the movie...I probably will rent it after. Be prepared, the book is really quite moving and gives you new appreciation for the things you have.

i just finished re-reading Scion as well, in preparation for Justice next month *twiddle* As soon as that comes out i'm dropping everything else to read it. In my opinion, anyone interested in BDSM who enjoys fantasy novels owes it to themselves to read Carey's Kushiel series. It's hard to pick a favorite novel, but she is far and away my favorite author (and i read a lot).

I feel for you, Krissi. I had an incident Friday that freaked me out; I worry about my eyesight, and after I got home, I had what I later found out was a "scintillating scotoma"; it's lights in your eyes, usually preceding a migraine. Well, I didn't know that at the time, and I though my retinas were detaching. I ended up calling 911, and got ahold of my eye doc, he helped figure out what it was over the phone, and confirmed it the next day, gave me a full dilated eye exam, the retinas are fine. Scary stuff.

Status: offline 		Currently I'm reading A House Divided by Deborah Leblanc. 

I too, find Clive Barker to be a genius, own all his books and have read nearly all of them (I have to read Sacrament, Everville and Galilee). 

To the person who said she liked Stephen King but couldn't get into the Tower series: (or anyone else that loves King and feels the same way): Read it and give it a chance.  You won't regret it.  Alot of his other works dovetail with the Tower series, most especially The Talisman and Black House, as well as the short-lived TV show, Kingdom Hospital.  I held out all these years and finally gave in and read all 7 books and man, what a work of art it was.
