Why does it seem like the cooler the tin is, the nastier the mints inside are?

OohAahMrs -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (12/31/2010 4:21:43 AM)

TheHeretic -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (12/31/2010 8:44:02 AM)

Is it wrong to have a margarita for breakfast once a year?

dcnovice -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (12/31/2010 6:19:23 PM)

I don't think so.

Now if you get to once a day, that might be a concern.

dcnovice -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (12/31/2010 6:22:04 PM)

Happy 2011, everyone!

TheHeretic -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (12/31/2010 8:54:41 PM)

Happy New Year, DC, and to all the rest of the Lasties as well!

wulfgarw -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (1/1/2011 9:51:28 AM)

Happy New Year, folks!

I will take the win to help me with my NY's resolution, to add a Instrument rating or tailwheel endorsement to my pilots licence.

I wonder if this thread is starting to challenge the limits of the program. I keep getting kicked to CollarMe's error page when I try to click to the newest post of this 4200 page monster from the id.

It is snowing here in the desert. Not sticking on the streets yet, but the temperature will only get colder from here. It's nice to live someplace where snow is an occasion, instead of just the usual winter pain in the rear.

Climate Change!

Just weather, I think. We only get a good dumping about once every 10 years or so, but we'll see a little bit like this, 3 winters out of 4. It's still pretty to watch.

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (1/2/2011 4:01:02 PM)

Everyone I know loves it when it snows because it's such a novelty, it changes the world around you for a short time. It rarely settles, you need the combination of dry surfaces and cold weather I think.

TheHeretic -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (1/2/2011 4:15:44 PM)

I have the advantage of having learned how to drive in it while I was in the service. On base, the roads didn't start getting plowed until after I got to work, and off base, the locals didn't plow it at all.

One thing I absolutely don't miss from where I used to live is freezing rain and ice storms. Knowing how to drive in that means you know not to drive in it. Otherwise, it's just go slow, fasten your seat belt, and hope for the best

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (1/2/2011 4:27:51 PM)

I think hills are the worst aspect both up and down, it's quite hilly where I am. You know you'll end up at the bottom of one you just don't know what direction you'll be pointing in when you get there. Also in any situation you can't really account for what other motorists are doing. I was doing 20mph on a road where the limit is 20 (in the dry) and right there behind me was this person wanting me to go a bit quicker. Strangely it's not like that when you are a pedestrian, you don't get people walking one inch behind you hurrying you along the pavement.

TheHeretic -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (1/2/2011 5:36:20 PM)

LOL. You've never been strolling slowly in a crowded shopping center with someone like me in a hurry behind you then, SL4.

I've always heard there are three sorts of drivers, when it comes to snow conditions. Those who don't know how, those that do, and those that think they do. The last are the most dangerous to be on the roads with.

My experience is that the reactions are like riding a bicycle, but the rules still need to be remembered. When I head out into snowy driving these days, I always like to deliberately skid, just a bit, to wake up the muscle memory. I also have to remember to turn off the damn stability control.

The rule I learned for hills is to never go down the hill any faster than you want to be going when you make your turn at the bottom.

dcnovice -> RE: Last One To Post, WINS! (1/2/2011 5:38:05 PM)

So far, we've gotten off easy in terms of snow this year. But then, we had enough last year for a lifetime. I did enjoy the break from work, though.
