I just use my profile pic, I have nothing to hide, besides, I like the way I look, no need for an avatar. Besides with some of the screenames around her and lack of 'real' pics it hard to tell who is male and who is female at times.

I have been on here for about 2 years and there are now at least 3 I know of that have my avatar..I do not wish to change coz then how would anyone know how to find and read my wonderful words of knowledge and wisdom....~stands firm with her perpetual waterfall cleansing!~..Tempting

Since these are offered by the site, the site would be liable if they did not have consent, not any one of us; unless we copied the images and used them elsewhere without CollarMe's consent.

Mod 11 never gave me that answer when i emailed her about it. This is their livelihood. The comment is rather naive as to how people think they can use art based on it being posted on the net. i am sorry but many do not understand. minnetar

I've heard of references to profile pics being pulled when it's discovered they are copyrighted material, but I think pulling an avatar from the files they offer would be a 'good faith' sort of thing.

That would safeguard someone from a lawsuit. minnetar

Thats why I have my pic up. Anyone steals that and I'l know. Thankg goodness, there is only one me. And art is only copyrighted if the artist chooses to do so. Public domain work (like avatars, and anything else made public for free use with the artists understanding that it will be freely distributed) is not illegal. Msot of the tie, the artists who make little avatars and such are doing so with the understanding that they will be passed around. Those that are concerned will sign them. Dont get so serious about a little piece of digital media. More likely than not, the stock images on a site like this are either sold with the domain, or in a package for use. If they are offered, the site owners have come by them legally and have the abiliity to offer them to others. With as many safeguards as the owners here ahve to keep their noses clean of all potential legal situations, coopyright infringement has probably already been addressed. Just a guess here. DV

I frequent football MBs on a reguar basis. Many of us have official NFL team logos or art as our avatar. To my knowledge no one has sought permission to use them. Rich i can tell you right now avatars are being used by artists who now require licenses. i see it all the time. Basically we can't assume anything anymore and guess what the site is sued and you are too. minnetar

If anyone is concerned, please take the time to review copyright laws. The owner of the site would be responsible for allowing use of copyrighted material on their site, not the users. The users would be responsible if they took the work from this site and used it elsewhere without the site's permission. There are many images, such as Logos and stock photography that artists grant blanket permission for anyone to use. They do this for multiple reasons, Logos and such promote advertising that they do not have to pay for when used by others, they are pleased when their logos are used. Artists who upload stock photography usually do so for other reasons, because they are particularly pleased with the art and want others to view it as often as possible, or to showcase their work. In any event, the imagery here belongs to CollarMe. If for any reason CollarMe 'stole' artwork from someone without the artists consent then CollarMe would be liable even if we are using it, because....we are using it on CollarMe's site.
