Well, I don't think it's a matter of drowning, since what'll most likely happen is the ship will become grounded on the shoals. Since these are shallow water shoals, the keel will more than likely get peeled back and the ship will settle onto the shoals. Those in the hull may perish, but those of us on the upper decks should be fine, barring the odd broken limbs as a result of the ramming of the shoals.
