BDSM and sexual interests aside, what are your passions and how much are they a part of your life?

I'm not really referring to every day type hobbies, although those chosen hobbies for some truly are a passion.

I suppose I'm hoping, through your responses, to be inspired in those things I feel passionate about but haven't done anything about.

Writing. It is my link to myself & everything in my world.
Books. They are my link to the world I cannot otherwise go to.

Playing the violin, reading (what I consider) good poetry, listening to outdoor concerts while looking up at the stars, baking in the heat on the beach.  There's probably other things but off the top of my head those are the things that I feel passionate about.

C~

Edited to add: cooking, and during the summer grilling.

Wild, can you throw me some pointers on playing a fretless string instrument. I just can't seem to get the hang of it. Not that I have one, I just can't grasp it for some reason. How the hell do you know where to put your finger ?

skiiing...I'm an atheist and gliding smoothly down a mountain alone in quiet winter is as close to spiritual as I get

I play cello and I used to play violin - you just learn where to put your fingers through lots of practice...it is muscle memory and you learn to put your thumb in the same place each time. At first, little kids have tape across the neck of the instrument until they get a feel for it. I stink at guitar because the frets confuse me and slow down my hand.

Music, martial arts and roleplaying games. In no particular order. My life would be seriously incomplete without any one of those.

Almost forgot religion, but that almost sorts under martial arts. And, as others have mentioned, nephandi; if I hadn't met her, I'd be a very different person today, one my current self could not abide.

I am sitting here watching the movie Lords Of Dogtown.

I grew up 20 miles south of Venice, CA, and I remember upgrading my rock wheeled skateboard for urethane wheels with precision bearings.

I remember timing the lights at the bottom of 190th street where it crosses PCH so that I could jet through on my skateboard after going down the hill.  The main problem was the speed wobbles we would get in to about 2/3 of the way down, so we ended up bolting trucks and wheels onto 8 foot 2x4s.  Nice, cushy ride.

Never really as good as the actors in this movie, but my gawd was that fun.

Maybe I should go buy another board...

Writing is one of my passions as well as photography. i had hoped one day to combine the two and travel around the NY-NJ area to photograph and write about a dying breed - old fashioned, non updated diners.  i love riding down an unknown road somewhere and running across one - stepping into one is like stepping into the past - they have a certain charm i think should be captured before they are all updated to chrome and vinyl.  Traveling is another of my passions - i did a fair amount when i was younger, spent 3 months traveling all o ver Europe and have been to England 3 times.  i could rough it out then, now i need a soft bed for my aching bones, so that means more money, which means less travel lol.
