I am sure afterwards will take care of itself, I have no other way of determining whether or not it will be compatible without testing beforehand on live volunteers.

i have been living the past 22 yrs with a donated liver. i was in a coma for 10 days prior to recieving my gift of life. my donor was 15. died in a car accident. his liver, heart and lungs and both kidneys were donated, as were his corneas. i am not here to toot my own horn. there are so many horrible transplant stories out there that i just wanted to remind ppl that sometimes organ donation is successful. dont believe me? ask my three children, all who were born AFTER my transplant.

The whole thing was still a good stunt IMO.
It has highlighted the shortage of organ donation and got people talking about what they can and can't do and sometimes - 'bad taste' is the way to do it.
Wonder what it says about society when something like this gets more publicity than a hospital ward full of list patients? (ok - that's the deep thinking outta the way)

Peace

It just says tv execs haven't figured out a way to make a hospital ward full of patients entertaining. Perhaps if they put the patients on an island to make it a real life version of Survivor with the patients competing to see who wins medication, it would be a hit! Although I wouldn't put it past tv execs to put something like that on the air, I think society is better off without it.

Isn't survivor the one on the tropical island? (Never watched it so hazarding a guess) - meh - they probably wouldn't be able to do that... the hospital gurneys wouldn't get through the sand... -  have you ever tried to push a wheelchair through that stuff????

Peace

They argue that it is to highlight the problem of organ shortage, while they line their pockets on other people’s misery. What next? Watch someone jump off a building live on TV? There is an easy was to stop this macabre mindset and that is to not watch or even mention it.

The show aired on the fifth anniversary of the death of the BNN founder who died awaiting a transplant - and the people taking part were all awaiting transplants and wanted to participate to highlight the problem.

It worked - it went worldwide instead of just staying in the Netherlands.  Also its reported that any money made from publicity was not the issue and non would be made.  Of course they gain publicity - but they hardly 'needed' it - they are far to big a company right now.

Peace
