You sons of bitches...

now I cant watch good eats or dining on asphalt without feeling uncomfortable after reading this thing.

sublimelysensual -> RE: Opinion: Is Alton Brown of Food Network's 'Good Eats' into kink? (8/17/2007 8:10:17 PM)

Don't feel uncomfortable..just pay more attention to the segments where he's trussing something up and think of it as an added bonus...

*laughing*
-a.. -with many "whipping alton's cream" thoughts going through my mind right now..

HisAlphaSlaveJ -> RE: Opinion: Is Alton Brown of Food Network's 'Good Eats' into kink? (8/17/2007 10:01:12 PM)

as paula dean would say "welcome to the food porn network" and she has been seen on paula's party spanking men, talking about whipping them, and lot's of sexual undertones.

but....so has alton brown. i think i read it in a article somewhere that he practices a "alternative lifestyle", which i assumed they were talking about being gay....i will see if i can find the magazine. anyway yes he can bondage up a chicken quite nicely...smirks

but i love to watch food porn all the time...........i am a huge foodie!

now wonders off to the kitchen to snack on havarti dill farmers cheese and carr's crackers.

Grlwithboy -> RE: Opinion: Is Alton Brown of Food Network's 'Good Eats' into kink? (8/18/2007 8:28:48 PM)

I would like it if the Naked probably sub Jamie Oliver were actually Naked at some point.

windchymes -> RE: Opinion: Is Alton Brown of Food Network's 'Good Eats' into kink? (8/19/2007 10:16:59 AM)

I read in a biography that Alton Brown is a devout, practicing fundamentalist southen Baptist.  Not that that means he can't be kinky....but it puts an interesting twist on it.

InsAndOutsFL -> RE: Opinion: Is Alton Brown of Food Network's 'Good Eats' into kink? (8/19/2007 11:54:34 AM)

Paula is the FemDom Queen of the food network with Alton, Emeril, and Bobby as her lil pony boys and she is teaching Giada the "ropes" so she can use them on Rachel......

*figures she has way to much time on her hands*

BlackSakura -> RE: Opinion: Is Alton Brown of Food Network's 'Good Eats' into kink? (8/22/2007 12:53:56 PM)

That would be more than awesome...

Running a kitchen is a different flavor of D/s play than usual - but it's there. May I suggest using that filter as you browse the FoodTV talent bios in generating your fantasies? Thx...

I agree completely.  In my past career I was a chef in nationally ranked top 10 zagat restaurant - and all kitchens have significant D/s dynamic.  Based on my experience in prof kitchens I feel very confident in saying that AB is a switch at his most dominant but in a serious restaurant kitchen he would be total sub meat.  He would be completely crushed under stinky clog heels before he even got close to the stove. Hmmm.....wonder if I still have enough connections to actually find out for real....not sure I want to know enough to burn through favors.

And umm, I have actually worked for some chef driven cooking shows - they were not really scripted - more like choreographed, they would have a few transition lines here and there at the most  But I am sure Mr. Brown's is scripted - another indication that he would be a sub in serious kitchen world.

Btw - in just about every hard core 3 star or above kitchen I worked in - a common after work and night off gathering was a trip to the local S & M club.

As to the Southern Babtist thing -  SB's don't preach hell fire and brimestone because they are sweet and nurturing.  And think about Jim Baker, and all the other primitive Bab's that are exposed as being kink and "sin" riddled.  Plus - in SB you have the whole revival ,repent thing that can relieve you of all your transgressions so you get to fall from grace and be redeemed over and over again.  Built in excuse to stray.

And IMO Anthony Bourdrain...is the yummy one - and quite damn dommy I 'd say. I just hate that he aired all our dirty kitchen laundry in Kitchen Confidential though. That was just embarrassing.

e01n -> RE: Opinion: Is Alton Brown of Food Network's 'Good Eats' into kink? (8/24/2007 11:06:33 AM)

My internship after cooking school was as "bitch" for FoodTV... I wanted to be Alton's prop bitch, wound up being someone else's... But in the process, got to meet Alton and Deanna Brown. Nice people. I try to keep in touch with them.

Told Deanna about this thread, she looked, emailed me back... laughing her ass off.

That's as close to an answer as you'll get.

The dynamic is true in this sense - in brigade, you have your place and there are serious consequences for going outside of it. And you say "chef" to me at work much as you'd say "master" or "mistress" to others, and I say "commis" the same way you say "bitch"... [;)] And yes, AB is not a restaurant person in the least. Nice guy, but he'd be sooooooo toasted within 15 minutes of working in that context.

This is true - there is a script, but there is some improvisation going on. Though whether that makes it "subby," I disagree - I'd say it's very practical from a production POV. And since AB was a TV commercial ad man first and a foodie a distant second, he knows TV production very well. So I'll mildly disagree with that assessment. It's more What Works than a sign of D/s personality.

What's really bad is when you go out to unwind and wind up getting contacts to cater play parties... That sucks the harsh... [;)]

Well, not all of the laundry, luv.... And I'm glad he's not at Les Halles much these days. He's much better showing off his dorkiness as a tourista anyway. And I want more Bobby Gold stories, dammit!

I will say that of the chefs I know who have some interest in WIITWD, they tend to get most of their ya-yas out at work and then maybe play a tiny bit to relax in a non-role-based way aka "just kinky". There are some who do play in a more conventional D/s sense, but they're the exceptions rather than the rule. As with everything, YMMV.

But almost every restaurant mercenary I know who's worked more than one rotation... they probably can tie a karada as quick as Mai Randa. [;)] And I'm sure watching Midori truss a chicken would be worth it as well...

ocilla -> RE: Opinion: Is Alton Brown of Food Network's 'Good Eats' into kink? (8/24/2007 5:01:37 PM)

Ooooh you made me laugh.  Yeah - I had no need to wander in to theworld of WIITWD till after getting out of the kitchen - think your theory is right on that you get enough in your day to day life to not have the urge elsewhere as much.  I found myself here after a guy I was getting involved with pointed out that my kitchen demeanor was so Domme.  When I sought out more info, I was so excited to find a perfect place for this part of me to romp and make trouble. Haven't looked back since.

You got way more knowledge than me on TV production - I just did some time in the KQED studio in SanFransisco.  Although I remember all of us snickering when the FoodNetwork folks came sniffing around looking for talent before they launched.  Boy did they get the last laugh.

I am just getting into the ropes - but yeah - trussing comes easy ;-).  Looking forward to it.

Nice to find a kindred spirit here - and the info on AB's wife's comments is too funny.

This is so funny. I LOVE Alton Brown. Have since I seen him the first time on his show "Good Eats". Oh to think he might be Dom or sub thrills me to no end. One reason he appealed to me is that he is very minamlist in his approach to cooking and his mannerisms. Kind of like a frugal intelligent DOMME. Oh the thought of him as a sub under my tutaledge sends shivers up and down my spine.

mistressadj -> RE: Opinion: Is Alton Brown of Food Network's 'Good Eats' into kink? (12/7/2007 2:49:33 PM)

[:D] I just recently told my sub/slave that if it doesn't work out with him, I'll look up Alton Brown.  I wasn't thinking that he was kinky, just cool.  But now...I'm going to be watching Good Eats with an eye to more than just cooking tips...LOL

I did as well! (well, not legally married but after almost 14 years together, same difference).  If only he were a domly type, then life would be perfect.

I dig Alton Brown....Not to rain on anyones parade but the guy does not strike me as a Dom....Think the only thing he could whip is eggs......I do see him getting strapped by the mean Asian chick on the show. What's her name?

I used to have a slight fantasy of tying up and having my way with the "Two Hot Tamales."......And then we would sit down and enjoy a nice meal together if they were still alive.

Hmm I dunno.. when ever we see "the two hot tamales" all we come up with is Rug munchers.. some thing just screams Lesbian!

*smiles* But damn they can cook.

I am a firm beliver Emril needs to be strapped down and publicly beaten.. but thats just me... LOL He is a good cook.. but damn annoying.

i find racheal ray a bit more annoying. why say "e.v.o.o." and then imediately say "extra virgin olive oil"? i could have understood a few times, but she does that every show i've seen. (my mother watches the show) if she doesn't think her viewers can figure out the abbriviation, why doesn't she just stop saying it? sorry to rant or hijak or any other naughty offences,,, but i'd give the annoying host award to emeril or racheal.

toss bobby flay in there, and i'll definitely agree with you.  NOTHING better than to see bobby's arse get handed to him on a throwdown!

kitten, who has been known to throw popcorn and chant "bobby flay! ass on tray!" when coming to the announcement of the winner on Iron Chef America

I always hope to see him gets his ass kicked.. I get so upset when he doesnt.. Grrr...

If anyone at Food Network is into KINK, I would look at Paula Deen how many times has she commented thazt Michael would SPANK her, then wink at the camera, or comments about beating meat...  think about it!

To be honest, i know this post has been going on for some time and i never saw that side of Alton Brown and I am a confirmed submissive...i better read everyones postings i guess...On another note what i read about Rachel Rays husband recently i would guess maybe she is the Dominant one...hmmmm

I hope that was a joke, because it always seems to me that the people who are the most observant in their religions in their vanilla life are the most into kink in their privet life.  I have always hoped to get my claws on Alton, either in a vanilla or BDSM context, but I always felt that he might be a little sub even with a couple scenes where he is jokingly called "Master"...

C'mon, share with the rest of the class... What did you read?

Rachel Ray... The things I could do to that girl with E.V.O.O.  Yummo!
