I've never identified as a nerd.  I did Dungeons and Dragons, played Magic: The Gathering, was raised on video games, and can recite The Holy Grail backwards.  But I'm also a former Marine, a rock musician, I wear a biker jacket, and have dated some incredibly beautiful women in my day.
Stephan

I know LOTS of military personnel who pursued nerdly, er, pursuits. Most of them said it gave them something to do while IN the military during down time or some such.

And most people I know who played Dungeons & Dragons and other table-top, dice-rolling, pencil-and-paper Role Playing Games also aspired to rock musicianship (if that's a word) -- i.e., they could play somekind of instrument (usually guitar), bought more than two issues of some rock instrument (again, usually guitar) magazine, maybe even joined a garage band that may have even played on stage for money once in a while, etc.

Being able to recite the Holy Grail backwards: In retrospect, does that make one a bona fide nerd or more of a geek? I do not know, therefore I ask...

And lastly, I've known quite a few incredibly beautiful women who got drunk and made bad dating decisions, so I'm not sure where you were going with that statement, bro. Not putting you down or anything, just making a general observation.

I also know some incredibly beautiful women who were smart enough to fall in love with nerds who became really wealthy during the initial computer boom of the late 1980's and 1990s.

:)
