First DO NOT go to the tack shop and leer at the crops and annoy people. You will not have been the first person to do this and it will only embarrass yourself and the poor shop girl. I can’t tell you how many kinky men used to come in my store when I was young and vanilla and made fools of themselves with crops and leers.

First of all, tack shops are where we used to go to get the best deals.  Also,  I don't remember leering at anyone there, because we were too embarassed to reveal the real reason for buying horse equipment.

My ex and I had a horse business, which involved buying, selling raising and training horses.  We specialized in black Arabians, but we often bought and sold other breeds as well.  So, if we had tack in our house, it was not big thing to display tack when vanilla friends came to visit.

Second, if you want to get to know the riding women. Go to a local barn and become a working student. In exchange for lessons, you help out around the barn. Clean stalls, clean tack horses etc. But just because you are there does NOT mean you will find a kinky Domme.  And Many women will be offended because you want them to dress in their riding clothing and beat you. They do not associate the riding attire and kink.

One never knows.  As I indicated before, I have encountered quite a few women who enjoy equestian training, as well as training submissives, but maybe not together in the same arena.  In fact, there are one or two  on CM that are horse woman, but I will refrain from mentioning their names.

quote:

You will have a better chance of finding a Domme in your local scene and asking her to wear riding clothing. I do know of another riding Domme in our area and much to our subs chagrin when we get together we talk horses not subs.

Awk!  That is not necessarily true.  Just because you don't have riding mistresses in your area doesn't mean that they do not exist.  I used to moderate a pony play message board, and there were quite a few professional dominants who showed up there from time-to-time; two of which have working ranches and host submissives who are into the pony play scenario.

Third…very little difference between training horses and training men. It’s a matter of convincing them it’s their idea.  And being strict and making sure you communicate the rules…

Is it about convincing the men or the horses?  ;-)

foothunk, TRUST ME on this:

Women who stable their horses, wear boots, carry riding crops, are there to polish their riding skills, train their mounts and definitively outperform each other at the next whatever: Rodeo, Horse Show, Gymkhana, Three Day Event, Dressage Match, you know: the next 'whatever'!  Horsewomen are the MOST competitive of women!

The fact that they are so fiercely competitive does not mean they are Dommes.

They are usually petty, shallow, critical, vain, self absorbed and spoiled.  They are completely obcessed with their 'riding weight' and so usually take diet pills and stimulants and bite people's heads off because of the fact that they're cranky and hungry!  They ride together, tan at the salon together, get their hair done together, go to the same costume tailor, shop together and in short, live, sleep, ( I won't say eat because they barely eat more than yogurt...) drink and breathe horses together.

Most of them have Major Sugar Daddys and they pride themselves on their ability to keep Big Daddy Happy.  It's a survival skill, they have to keep Big Daddy Happy to keep spending his money.  And if their Big Daddy doesn't have enough money, they think absolutely nothing of taking away someone else's Big Daddy who has more money.  It's all about Big Daddy's Money.

They're bitchy and vicious when they refer to each other behind one another's back, and if they're VERY self obcessed they don't care whose feelings they hurt.  ((( I can categorize them this way because I used to be one of them, and I still have many good friends in horse circles despite their unending character flaws! )))

A man hanging around a stable who OWNS a horse will be a hot item, new meat, a temporary distraction in the tackroom until ALL of the women know who he's involved with.

A grown man hanging around a stable who is CLUELESS about horses will be rapidly escorted off the property.

Horses, raising horses, training horses, and competing with horses, in short 'horse fever' is a fever all unto itself.

The ratio of horsewomen interested in BDSM will be just about the same as the ratio of women who love to shop on any given Saturday who'd also be interested in BDSM.

I like your post, though.  It's amusing!  If you think you can measure up to a Big Daddy, though, and tolerate the whining, the primping, the bitching, the spending, then by all means, buy yourself a pony and go for it!

Just remember, foothunk: Be Careful What You Wish For!  You'll need to be prepared to babysit.  All the time.

TexasMaam, thank you for your very candid, inciteful, and often eye-opening post regarding the inner workings of the world of horsewomen.  It reads as though you have been there/done that before.  Nevertheless, it only proves that there is always something more to learn about life.

I would caution that in this case, TexasMaaM is being insightful, and not at all inciteful.

I feel like some poetry is in order. It doesn't quite fit the situation, but humor me, will ya? He and She are meant to be generic characters and not the persons in this thread.

He praised her as insightful
But inciteful she heard
Alas this misunderstanding
Left him a black eye

When I misspelled the word insightful
Her mood became most frightful
There was no excuse, and I admit the misuse
And now I am contriteful

So much for poetic license, or the lack thereof!  *sigh*

notty boy! You are alive and well in the land of windstorms!  YAY!  Nice to see you check in.

There once was a lady from Texas
Who was fed up with ALL of her exes,
They all wanted to stay,
But she said with dismay:
"So long fellas, I'm changing sexes!"

badump-bump!

; )
